I wanted to show off the cover progress of Feast of the Unicorn!

This was a long back and forth between me and Ananth-- we knew we wanted to depict a feast table with the Unicorn presented as the main course, but not exactly how to present it. Eventually Ananth gave me a thumbnail with the camera directly above the table so we could have the figure as large as possible and I loved it.

The comic itself is and black and white, but I've mentally been envisioning it as having a green-orange-gold kind of palette. Kind of autumnal (also the colors in the Unicorn in Captivity tapestry haha)... but somehow the cover wound up being very red! For the final version I might still push the tablecloth into an orange-vermillion color. It's just not that common, and I'm really into that color right now!

Anyway, if you'd like to see more of the project or back its kickstarter - you can find the project over here! 🦄🔪🍴💖

I think that enlarging the unicorn's figure to fill the cover was sensible, but I also like that first sketch quite a bit, with the whole table visible. The final version makes the viewer feel like more of a participant, but the first version is more voyeuristic in a way, and there's a greater sense of anticipation compared to the more in-progress action of the final version. Cool concepts!

The choices made in both the posing and colour holds are fantastic. Really next level.

Thank you so much Crook! You always have the most thoughtful comments ;__; There's always the chance we'll go back to some of the earlier cover ideas, since there's going to be more chapters!
