This is my nervous system?

Erik felt the air on his skin, the hairs moving up and down as the skin contracted against the chilly breeze in the room.

Every muscle, every organ, he was connected to his body. It's like before I was merely existing in my body. Now it is my body, completely under my control, information coming in from everywhere. I can feel an incredible amount of control.

He twitched the individual muscles in his hand. It felt incredibly strange as they had always worked in concert together without his conscious thought.

A feeling of rightness filled his body as if it was powering up.

Holy shit, it's like I just powered up my reactor. So much energy, I feel like a battle mech instead of a person!

A notification rang in his head.

Erik opened his eyes, looking at the ceiling.

“Well, I think I’m all tempered,” Erik turned his head to the side, seeing the exhausted medics checking on him and their gear, just in case.

The room brightened slowly at first, then quickly.

He felt a rush as the world turned gold, Ten Realms energy, experience seeped in through the walls, through the ceiling, and the floor.

Erik laughed, feeling it nourish his body, a deep feeling of relaxation filled him. He breathed, drawing in power and relaxing his body on the exhale.

It took a few moments for everything to calm down. Erik opened his eyes and looked around.

“Well, thank you everyone! Could someone unplug me please?” He smiled at the medics.

They seemed to collapse in on themselves, proud, relieved and satisfied.

Looks like things weren’t that simple. I just slept through everything.

Jen chuckled and pulled out his IV, another medic pulled out the IO in his opposite shoulder.

“I feel like a marionette, IO’s in the shins as well?”

“You were a bit of a problem case,” Jen shrugged. It didn’t take too long to remove all six tubes that were pumping into his body. Jen and the other medics took stamina potions examining Erik thoroughly. Melissa Bouchard was there alongside her team of body cultivation specialists jotting down information and data.

Erik opened up his notifications.

“Physical domain, that must be because of the enhanced senses.”

Erik frowned.

“Is there something wrong?” Jen noticed his expression.

“I feel hot, my blood seems to be boiling. My entire body seems to be excited,” Erik felt a heat deep in his bones. It was feral. It was powerful. He reached out his hands. They were balled into fists. The tension in his muscles gave him a feeling of pleasure, as if to prove his inner strength.

The veins across his body expanded; they rose from the skin as Erik felt that heat spread throughout his body.

Erik felt deep energy within his body, begging to be used. He released control, trusting in the transformations happening in his body.

Erik let out a groan, as it felt like his whole body was stretched. His internal organs shook as his heart pounded in his chest, slowly and rhythmically. A ripple started at Erik’s stomach, all of his muscles turned on, twitching involuntary. It spread like a wave outwards. Erik pushed forward, pushing up on his toes, looking up and reaching his hands up above.

It was comforting, as if something had been unlocked that had always been resting beneath the surface had been released.

“What the fuck? A monster core?” Erik shifted, finding that he nearly fell over from the massive power difference within his body from before the tempering and now.

“Holy shit that is a lot of power,” Erik lowered himself carefully. “Don’t get too close, I need to adjust to this all.”

He held out a finger and waved it, feeling the air that he shifted each time he batted it. “Okay, that’s a scary amount of power, what are my overall stats looking like?”

“Okay, lets put this physical domain to use. Sorry just adjusting to the new body,” Erik said to the people in the room, his mind was spinning with changes and questions.

“Well, you’ve done it a few times, we’ll just let you get to it.” Jen waved him on.

It was right, Erik took a few steps, gingerly at first, then with more confidence so he didn’t go crashing off into the ceiling or across the room.

Then it was pushups, squats and crunches.

“Talk us through what you’re going through,” Bouchard asked.

“I know these exercises, how they’re supposed to feel, how I should move in them. It takes me some time to adjust how much strength I should apply to them. It is just like putting on the conqueror armor. When you do for the first time you’re going to be a little screwed up because you have so much power really quickly. With the metal tempering, my senses are much better, eyesight, smell, hearing. My control over my own body has skyrocketed as well. I didn’t just get dumped with the metal body tempering, but the bloodline as well.”

Erik looked at his chest and used Organic Scan. There, under his sternum was a small lesser monster core.

“Oh and I have formed a monster core in my chest. It is hooked into my circulatory system.”

“What?” Bouchard and several others yelled at the same time. Jen had hungry eyes looking at Erik’s chest taking an unconscious step forward.

“Let me get used to my power. I nearly doubled my damn stats, I’m liable to break bones accidentally if I’m not careful,” Erik warned.

“Walk us through everything while you get used to your body,” Bouchard said.

Erik relayed his notification information and what he had felt. By the end of that he was pretty adjusted to his body and the medics flooded him, scanning and checking what was happening inside.

“So it looks like this bloodline is connected to what beasts in the Ten Realms do. With the title you can consume monster cores. If humans have too many of them, then it can lead to massive problems. And after you have a monster core at a certain level then having a second monster core you won’t get the massive experience boost anymore. I have no idea about the berserker and evolved form.”

“They must be new abilities but how they’re activated,” Jen shrugged.

“I don’t have any ideas,” Erik said.

“So it looks like there is a change in systems and it becomes closer to the system that is used by beasts,” Bouchard said, writing down notes.

“We’ll have to get some samples. Moving forward with further metal temperings tempering the blood with the method you came up with will be best Jen.”

“That will start to temper everything else a little, I would suggest doing the bones first though. They’re mostly isolated and blood is produced in the marrow. Then the blood, then the organs. We saw a huge spike in stamina once the organs were complete. Even at that point if we have to medically enhance them. It will be much easier. Then on to muscle and skin.”

“So reproduce the foundation tempering stages, just flip the blood and bones and remove the mana?” Erik asked as he raised his arm up as medics were still swarming around him, noting all kinds of information.

“At the later stages when you circulated the surrounding mana it sped up the tempering process and supplied the body with more energy. It might be an idea to have the patient circulate metal attribute mana,” Jen said.

Erik’s next fight should be fun! I wonder if he starts popping beast cores like candy and it pisses off Gilly 🤣

Wow, not sure what else to say, just WOW!

Samuel Davis

You know the only thing that bugs me about Eric and his body tempering is how he seems to always be ahead of Rugrat in every meaningful way. I mean Rugrat is my favorite character by far, so I am biased. But still, Rugrat's leveling up his Mana Core and is always behind Eric by at 2-3 levels in Body Tempering. Wish they both worked to get each other to equal levels. In my head I don't see why Rugrat WOULDNT want to get his body at peak condition like Eri.c

Samuel Davis

I mean think about it, these boys are Gym junkies, and thrill seekers, your body is your best tool am I right ? Feel like old Rugrat would be more about catching up in that area. The Mana core is huge, and maybe that will give him a power spike in upcoming books, but in most combat and most of the stuff that happens in the books, seems like Eric is always outshining the guy lol. AGAIN I am biased, I like Rugrat way more than Eric, he reminds of friends I had in the service way too much not to love him.

Samuel Davis

I think thats definitely coming, but there is probably going to be some drawbacks to consuming beast cores, maybe it makes him go all berserker ?

Aaron Guhin

Didn’t the 200mil xp level him? This didn’t include the leveling message about assigning points. Did I miss something?

Samuel Davis

Not sure what you mean, I was just talking about relative power between the two guys, there has been a lot of times in the series that Rugrat has outleveled Eric but still seems to be overall weaker.

Eric Travis

I wouldn't say Rugrat is that far behind Erik. He's got the lead on mana cultivation despite blowing out his channels for almost a whole book. He just now fell 2 tempering stages behind and that's easily fixed with Delilah's alchemy pills (she gave him a one shot to legendary fire tempering) and Jen's new way to speed up metal tempering. Erik will have the harder job of making up the gap in mana cultivation since there haven't been any shown cultivation aids (unless you count his ability to purify three mana types now). I like the way they've split their resources by having each focus on their respective paths. If Rugrat spent his time tempering his body allow with Erik then his mana cultivation would be that much further behind. Now that Erik have gone through metal tempering and they have identified several ways to improve the method, Rugrat can caught up in no time all while maintaining his advancements in mana cultivation. As far as the "out leveling", that's a bit unfair since most of that came from gaining Expert in two heavily related professions. I just wonder why they are abusing the hell out of the combining skills function to farm XP (Night Vision + Far Sight, Night Vision + Detect Life, etc.).

Mikkel Kronborg

is the monster core where is mana core was or is there too cores or did i miss something?

FRED MOWERS

I think your bias is actually towards body cultivation. Your favorite character isn’t taking your favorite path. Rugrat is a marine forest recon sniper (spec-ops). Why wouldn’t he prioritize his effectiveness at range? Why wouldn’t you want him to? He was trained to be one of Earth’s deadliest snipers. Engaging in hand to hand combat is a mission failure to him.
