Chapter: Cultivation and Crafting
Erik sat in front of his rumbling cauldron, beasts of metal and earth joined the beasts of flame, working together to concoct a pill.
Smaller beasts of water had entered the cauldron as well. He had taken Delilah’s theories on elemental alchemy and combined it with his own command of the elements. With his will and increasing control over the elements as the level of his elemental core had increased, all he’d needed was a kick in the right direction by Xun Liang to combine the things he hadn’t been thinking of before.
They moved together, altering the different ingredients, preparing to combine them before his cauldron shook and rumbled, the fire and metal beasts crashed into one another, creating a rolling destruction that ending in black smoke rising from the top of the sealed cauldron.
Erik coughed and waved away the smoke.
“Well that didn’t work.” He laughed and cleaned up the cauldron, storing it away now he had used up the last of his ingredients.
He stretched, cracking his back, using heat to loosen his muscles and body. The Earth element made him alert as he ran a low thrill of lightning through his spine, waking up his entire body, bringing him to peak readiness.
He took a quick glance at his notifications.

The Special Team member recording what he had been doing and assisting him also groaned upon getting up.
“Don’t worry, Lydia, just need to learn how to warm up your body or stretch some more!”
“You make it sound so easy.”
“Training makes it easier.” Erik left the room and went out into the new residence he lived in, a large manor with all the necessary facilities.
Lydia and Rimy followed him.
“Mission Hall?” Rimy asked.
“Yeah, need to turn in the pill.”
The servant manning the teleportation formation sent them to the Mission Hall.
Erik walked up to the counter, pulling out a pill bottle and a slip of carved wood, putting it on the desk.
The woman looked him up and down through the side of her eye, keeping the sneer from her features. Erik’s smile only widened.
She clicked her tongue and took the piece of wood and pill.
“High Expert grade pill received. Mission is completed. Medallion?”
Erik put the medallion on the table. She grabbed it without looking and frowned. She opened her hand around the medallion, the picture of shock and confusion on her face made Erik’s smile even brighter. He could see the internal war in her features, not sure how she should treat him.
He waited for a few moments, before he pulled out several boxes.
“I also have these to turn in, if you could keep the stars quiet?” Erik smiled
“Uhh, yes sir.”
“Thank you, and I do not want contribution points, but I would like these materials instead, the ones underlined. Please give me amounts of each in quantities equal to the contribution points.”
He put a piece of paper on the desk as she searched through the boxes filled with pills and powders as well as associated slips.
“Could you have those delivered to my accommodations? I’m not in a hurry and there are a number to complete.”
“Uhh, certainly, sir.” She gave a meek smile of relief.
Erik held out his hand and she put the medallion back in his palm.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” He held her eyes, smiled and left.
“You having fun torturing the staff?” Rimy asked.
“Ah, have to have some fun in life.”
“More pills next or patients?” Lydia asked.
“Patients I think, getting stuck in that small room all day can make someone feel a little cramped.”
Erik moved to the wall and formation that listed out all the different kinds of ailments and issues that people were suffering from. Some even included seer formations that stored a scan of the patient.
He went through the boards, selecting different patients.
“Alright let’s go.”

A few hours later and Erik was stepping out of a carriage outside of a grand estate. A large wooden gate stood in their way.
Rimy activated a formation next to it.
Several minutes later part of the door opened to reveal two blue eyes.
“Hello, might I ask you what business you have here?” a servant asked.
Erik held up the slip and put it through the opening. She took the slip, closing the eye slot and opening the gate seconds later.
“Please, come in.” She smiled.
She locked the gate behind them and escorted them into the estate. It was a simple building of angles, but it looked like it would weather the next century without any sign of wear and tear.
They entered through a foyer, passing through different rooms, before arriving in a warm sunroom where a man sat in a wheelchair, looking out at the world.
A guard stepped out next to the door, stopping them.
Another servant hurriedly cleaned up the man, hiding the bowl of food she had been feeding him from. She cleared her throat and stood beside the man.
“These two stay outside,” the guard said to Rimy and Lydia.
“I’ll be fine, if they raise an issue they’ll be dealing with the might of the Mission Hall and Alva,” Erik said.
The servant that had greeted Erik led him over to the man. “This is your patient.”
The man’s eyes were crystal clear as he looked at Erik.
“I need to confirm some things. He tempered his body with the Fire element but not Earth or Metal, correct?”
“That is correct.”
“He has lasting damage from trying to open an acupoint and it’s reflecting back on him?”
The maid nodded. “Correct.”
“He can control Fire to a great degree and can still write concise messages, but his control over his body, and his mana has decreased.”
The woman looked at the man. His eyes flicked over to her, to Erik, and then to the garden, disregarding them as if he had been through this a dozen times.
“Correct.”
“Sir, please look up and down if it is okay for me to touch you?” Erik asked the man.
He did so and Erik grabbed his wrist and ran a scan through his body. He reached around and touched the back of the man’s neck. “You might feel an odd sensation, don’t worry.”
