Chapter 2:

2/04/2242

“Through we go,” Joey said.

Luke noticed his older brother’s nervousness at jumps had decreased over the past few weeks now he and Marissa had got a firmer grip. Commanding the entire jump without their parents assistance.

“Welcome to Gongdian system,” He said. “Altering onto your plot.”

“Aye,” Marissa said from her seat beside him.

Luke watched the relative track of the Dahlia alter, away from the warpgate and on a curving line to Tiankong Gong-Dian

“I heard that you finally got warp capabilities in Sphere World?” Marissa asked.

Stephen cleared his throat.

“Sorry, wormhole projectors,” Marissa shared a grin with Luke.

“Damn warpgates and jumps, not even using the right names for it,” Stephen grumbled without any heat as he ran checks on the state of Dahlia’s engineering.

“Yeah we got some, I’m going to check it out tonight and see what’s up with it.” Luke said. It was an open secret among his family that he was part of Legion. “I know that we see it all the time, but be nice to get out into more systems. Sphere World it a lot of fun and things are heating up in Sphere World, there are a lot of clans, guilds and free players getting in on one another and there are more warships appearing all the time.”

He absently flipped through the feeds on his screen.

Wormhole Capabilities in Sphere World!

>We can confirm that wormhole projectors are in Sphere world! It is unknown what this new development will bring. OBE (Orion Belt Enterprises) have been silent on this matter. While the wormhole projectors for ships were confirmed another three items were added to the system. Water recycling, space station modules, atmospheric modules and WARP GATES! You can build a warpgate! Going through the change log, one requires Large factories and a large shipyard to build. Also buried in the change log were rough maps of several systems around the Sphere World system which is being tenatively named Orion. We here at GamerFeed are excited to see just what will happen! A whole new frontier!

Sphere World's Expansion

>In the last two weeks, one game has been on the tip of the tongue of guild leaders. Sphere World. Thought to be a last minute beta for a game of the failing Orion Belt Enterprises people were alarmed to find a free to play MMORPG. Thousands have complained about the necessity to buy 'bots' to gain access to the game, but the ultra grade graphics and realistic scenarios have made this the game to play. Now with sketchy information on seven systems around Sphere World people are looking at just what this means.

We know that each planet has a certain amount of designated nodes across a planet or planetoid. Controlling several of these nodes, counts as a sector. The sector is all of the area between these nodes. If you control these areas or are an ally of the controlling group you can mine, build and work freely, if you are to go into a controlled sector or node and you are not an ally or friendly to the areas group, then you are marked as attacking.

Controlling a node you only control that node and some area around it, to expand you need to place down more command posts. But if you control three adjoined nodes, then you can create a sector, you control all of the land between those nodes. Controlling a Sector doesn't give any mining or material bonuses it just increases your controlled land.

Though what if someone was to control all the nodes on a planet? Would they control the planet and then they would be able to do whatever they want? Then if someone wanted to take even a single node from them they would need to launch a planetary strike?

We can see from the Violet Wraith guild taking over one of Ares Moons in the Orion system that they took control of the entire moon which sets a precedence.

Luke let out a low whistle. Control a whole planet. His mind was caught up in images of a guild defending a planet while another plummeted through the atmosphere to capture it.

A grin spread across his face. That could be some serious fun.

His eye caught a new article that popped up on his screen.

Nitris Guild joins Sphere World

>Joirli, Nitris' Guild leader announced today that they will be shifting over several gaming teams to tackle Sphere World. Saying 'Sphere World is a great opportunity and we have only scratched the surface'. When asked about the realities of the game he said 'Sphere World is a harder game to get into, Still there are free bots for everyone to use and with some hard work anyone can build a base, a shipyard and now see the stars.' That makes Nitris the last of the Big Ten to join Sphere World. Millions of players across the human sphere have also joined Sphere World.

He grimaced. "Great, more guilds, lets see what there is on the Legion."

Legion Clan's Fleet.

>They newly formed Legion Clan continues to make waves within Sphere World. While not being part of any other game they have battled across Valhalla, attacking and taking nodes from the Star King Guild one of the Big Ten and the Crimson Heart Guild an up and coming force.

While their efforts on Valhalla have been impressive, their feats in space have drawn greater attention. Defeating a Star King Fleet outnumbering them nearly three to one and then taking the Iron Racket base and shipyards in massive display of coordination and ability.

Rumors have been flying around over just who are leading the Legion ships that are poised to rapidly expand with Iron Racket's capture. In a surprising twist, these forces have been led by the Iron Admiral. Dismissed over a questioning defeat in Star Fleet. This quiet but determined Admiral started anew in Sphere World, joining Legion and becoming their leading admiral and handily capturing two off her previous guild's corvettes.

The Iron Admiral as is normal, didn't comment on our questions-but the Legion did give a comment on her operations. Saying that they believe in their Admiral, giving her all their support and saying how they will let the iron Admiral's feats speak for themselves, they don't care about her presence in the press, after all winning is more important than interviews. While this reporter would disagree, in favor of having a chat the Iron Admiral, one can't deny her results.

With a powerhouse of an admiral at their backs and several shipyards, Legion just might have become the biggest threat to space fleets around the system. I must say that I'm looking forward to a time when we can see proper warships engaging one another!

Luke smiled to himself. Jynx's small machinations had gone from correcting a few stories to creating articles and information across the human sphere.

Who thought we'd get jobs out of this. He'd just wanted to join a guild so that he could keep fighting, but Fin's administration skills and Jynx's ability to weave through the feeds had come out too.

The universe doesn't seem so daunting now. Just need to put my mind to it.
