Great idea! So, I'm probably the slow kid here, but do you have any plans to bring back the writters notes, maybe at the end of book 3? Or even better, do a data book a la Appleseed to expand on the backstory, lingo, SOPs, visual details that my slow brain will have missed? Heck I'm so slow that I often end up going back and forth through the pages to deconflict who's Ember xxx, actual, Crane etc...

Jon Chang

We are actually working on something like a hypernotes for this series that will be published after we complete the book :)

I love the way you think :) I am super stoked now

Hey BPRE! Just discovered you. Love your work so far! Question about the barcodes on the contractors: what are they for? Equipment inventory? ISR tagging/IFF? Trolling people predisposed to wonder what they’re for? I haven’t noticed an explanation for them yet in the books, and Google is proving unhelpful.

Jon Chang

We've never explicitly stated it, but the barcodes and QR codes would be much more difficult to spoof than say a generic ID placard(aka K-123). At check points, they would be scanned like an EZ pass, so CH guys could just roll through. In combat, they would serve as additional FFI for a guy to reduce green on green incidents.

Paul D.

That’s really interesting. As overhead FMV resolution improves and NVDs proliferate among non-US entities, encrypted QR codes could be a novel approach to IFF in ISR.

Sarathi Sarkar

Prior to this they have been used to troll people predisposed to wonder what they're for. XD

Amazing work guys! Had been a long time looking for your works, glad I became a patron. Count with my support for a loooong time to come.

I own all 3 physical books for Yemen, but I was wondering if there are plans to digitize Book 3 for Patreon dudes & dudettes?

Christopher A.

I must not be looking hard enough. Thanks!
