Throughout my career as an ambient music producer, I’ve been confronted with the question of what IS ambient music? Can it have beats? Can it have sequences? The answer my friends, is all of the above. Ambient can be anything you want it to be and it’s one of the most sub divided and diverse genres ever.

In this video. we’re going to create the start of an ambient track from scratch using nothing but textural elements that come from my new preset pack “Chromatic” for pigments on Material. I know there are many of you out there who will appreciate this video. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Cheers and enjoy,

Great video Chris. I've just done a track using only 2 presets from the Chromatic pack but I've tried to use them in different ways so you wouldn't know they were the same preset. I think it sounds ok but it is my first attempt at something which is only sort of a soundscape. It was fun to do and Chromatic is a great soundset. Cheers.

That's great and inspiring. There is always your little helping hand boosting confidence and creativity in your videos. Thank you for that gifted Gemini ! Is there a video where you talk about your Live setup : what you load in the reverb & delay or master tracks and how to setup your custom production channel strip, its aim/mastering objective ?

Loved seeing you use and adjust the patches while making a track! Finally purchased it, by the way. Really enjoying what I'm hearing. Especially as a lot of the pigments patches that come with the synth are unusable for me, so these are a lot of fun to deconstruct while being super usable! Excellent job!
