We all want better MIDI, but how do we get it? In Ableton Live 12, we've got a host of new MIDI generation and transformation tools that completely change the way MIDI is created in Live. In this multi-part series, we're going to take a look at each tool in context so you guys can get a better idea of what they're all about and how to best utilize them in your own music.

Even if you don't use Ableton Live, I think this is an interesting video series to see how you might generate MIDI on your own (in your own DAW) to make better productions. Hopefully you guys enjoy this one! Are you enjoying the new features added in Ableton 12? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks Chris! I had played with this one a bit before but everything was so "on the grid," and I was wishing it would generate something with overlapping notes. Ah, now I see, turn off the grid. The patterns it came up with looked very nice. Yes, I would love to be able to have longer note length options, but until it happens, can certainly do it the manual way, or just x2 the clip, in the mean time.

Bitwig here, but there's a ton of midi generating and creative "NOTE FX" devices to be realized in there as well.
