Quick tip for the Ambient Tutorials tier and up!

You guys always see me in nearly every video drawing out chord shapes, by hand, usually with a pencil tool or by recording in real time. As I was working on music this morning I thought to myself, there's got to be a better way to do this, right? Turns out, there is! Enter: Shape

Using Ableton Live 12's new "Shape" MIDI generator, you can quickly create new chord shapes and entire MIDI sequences with ease with a few clicks and you're back to working on your track. It's pretty awesome. So good I just had to make this quick tip video and share it with you guys.

Hope you enjoy this one!

Cheers,

Great tip! Thank you!

Nice one! I was thinking of Shapes more for shorter/fast note sequences or melodies! I've been using Seed to do something kind of similar, by generating sparsely populated shorter length (2 - 4 bar) midi clips (since Seed's maximum note length generation is only 1 bar) and then clicking the "2x" button several times, to then stretch the midi roll out to 16, 32 or even 64 bars.
