Today was an incredible first day exploring Wuppertal, Germany, as I arrived for the prestigious Schallwelle Award Ceremony, a renowned event celebrating excellence in ambient and electronic music.

I'm thrilled to be here, not only for the chance to participate in the upcoming event but also to connect with my dear friend and fellow ambient composer, Martin Stürtzer. The energy in the air feels uniquely inspiring, especially knowing I'll soon be attending the awards and sharing this special moment with so many talented artists.

Wuppertal has instantly captured my heart, it's a city alive with charm and rich cultural heritage. My day began with a fascinating ride on the iconic Schwebebahn, or "flying train," which gracefully floats above the Wupper River and through the heart of the city. From above, the panoramic views were stunning, offering a unique perspective on the blend of historic architecture, lush greenery, and bustling modern life below.

Exploring the city streets afterward, I felt completely immersed in the blend of old-world elegance and modern vibrancy. Each corner seemed to reveal a new hidden gem, from cozy cafes and boutique shops to historic buildings exuding timeless charm.

A personal highlight was reconnecting with my good friend and fellow ambient composer Martin Stürtzer. Spending time together in his hometown, discussing music, art, and life, added an extra layer of meaning to this journey. Visiting fellow artists in their creative spaces is always special, and Martin's historical insights, like his stories about how the city's industrial heritage shaped its vibrant cultural scene, made the city feel even more welcoming and creatively energizing.

I'm incredibly grateful to be here, not just for the beauty and atmosphere of Wuppertal but for the celebration awaiting us at the award ceremony. It's moments like these that remind me why music connects us all in profound and beautiful ways.

I'll be sharing more updates from the road soon, and I deeply appreciate your support and gratitude for what I do!

Cheers,

Never realized Martin has windows in his studio...he must have black out curtains for his YouTube videos.

That's awesome, Chris. You, in the very town where I grew up and went to school. I remember climbing up to "Briller Viertel" with my pal Michael in his dads old "Kadett", smoking a few..., looking down to Aue, our former highschool (ask Martin about that, it's been a while😉), and listening to the music of Brian Eno, Klaus Schulze and Vangelis. It seems, for me the circle is closing, since I'm back to Ambient Music with the help of your input and inspiration. Have a nice time in "Wupper-Valley".😄

Chris

Soo cool, have a nice time and thanks for sharing these moments with us :-) Greetings also to Martin and all the best from Germany (not Wupper-Valley^^)
