Honored and Inspired: My Schallwelle Awards Journey (Patreon)

Stepping into the Schallwelle Awards ceremony in Bochum, Germany, felt surreal, surrounded by ambient artists and enthusiasts who share my passion for music and sound. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation, and I was thrilled simply to be part of such an inspiring gathering.
Walking into the venue, I immediately felt the warmth and camaraderie. It wasn’t long before I spotted familiar faces and began chatting with fellow nominees and attendees, exchanging stories and laughs. The community surrounding ambient music is truly special, supportive, creative, and passionate. It made the event feel like a family reunion rather than just an awards ceremony.
As the evening progressed and categories were announced, my heartbeat quickened. Being nominated alone was a tremendous honor, but when my name was called, I felt a wave of disbelief and gratitude. I shared second place with the incredibly talented ambient artist Michael Brückner, a tie, and the first award of its kind given by the Schallwelle Society. Accepting the award alongside Michael made the moment even more memorable, highlighting our shared dedication to ambient music.
Standing on stage, holding the award, I looked out at a room filled with people whose work I deeply admire. My mind briefly wandered back through the years, reflecting on countless late nights in my studio, endless experimentation, and the relentless pursuit of sound that brought me here. Receiving this recognition validated every effort and reminded me how much I cherish this journey.
The adventure continued the next day as I hopped on a train to meet my friends and fellow producers Lars Leonhard and Roman Ridder in Düsseldorf. They recently teamed up as "Spectral Wanderer," releasing their debut album on our label, Synphaera, last November. Meeting up in person was a perfect opportunity to connect.
We spent the day exploring vibrant markets, quaint cafés, and historic sites. Lars, Roman, and I shared ideas over coffee, discussing everything from synthesizers to future projects. It was exciting to hear about their preparations for Spectral Wanderer's first live show this June. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and seeing their creative synergy firsthand filled me with inspiration.
Returning home to Wuppertal, I carried with me renewed energy and deeper appreciation for my journey. I'm profoundly grateful to the Schallwelle Society for this incredible honor and to Lars and Roman for reminding me why collaboration and friendship matter so much. This experience reinforced my commitment to exploring, creating, and pushing the boundaries of sound. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead, not just for me, but for all of us sharing this remarkable musical journey.
