The March three-part series is here, and this month we’re diving into the deep, atmospheric world of Dub Techno. Across three in-depth sessions, we’ll break down the essential techniques to craft the hypnotic grooves and evolving textures that define the genre.

Part 1 kicks things off by establishing the core foundation—building the rhythmic framework, setting up drum racks, shaping percussion, and crafting the iconic dub stab. From there, we explore how atmosphere and spatial effects create the immersive depth that gives Dub Techno its signature sound.

Each session is designed to give you the tools and techniques to push your productions further, whether you’re just starting out or refining your sound. Get ready to dive in, experiment, and bring new life to your tracks.

Dude, you’re a dope instructor! Clarified everything I was curious about, expanded on it, and even went further! Looking forward to the other vids in the series 🤙

Wanted to say what I love about your tutorials is that they give me ideas, inspiration and a good starting point to go on my own journey. Always excited for a new series because that means I have numerous future tracks coming out!

For those playing at home - the Zyklop chord was actually a C#minor 7 without the 3rd. C#, G# & B. Lovely hollow sound.

Absolutely loved this! Been getting writer's block with ambient and so this was a nice change of pace. Figured out how to make the dub stab on the Cherry Audio Mercury 4 and things are sounding very warm and vibey so far. Can't wait for part 2!

I’m using this series to guide me towards actually finishing a 1st track. By being more hands-on, I’m learning a lot along the way. I’ve decided that I am going to focus most of my initial music tracks on dub techo, but with some crossover into Amapiano (a newer genre from South Africa that typically has a “clave rhythm”— there are several of them— “Son” and “Rumba” are examples.)

I am about to dive into this one soon... :-)

Great tutorial series, mate — it’s really easy to follow and packed with useful information. One question for you: do you always start a track like this, in terms of tempo and key? Is it a good foundation to build on, or do you sometimes just play around and then think, “Okay, this chord I just played is in C♯ minor, so I’ll make the whole track in that key”?

I never knew a sound could be 'flabby' - I learn so much from your videos - thank you :)
