The Ambient Era (Patreon)

The following passages were written on my recent travels to London and Paris. Much of it was written in transit, whether 35,000 feet up or 120mph on a train. I find that this sort of free flowing writing can be a helpful exercise in creativity and dream building. To literally let your mind go into stream-of-consciousness state and pull out thoughts and ideas from the unknown is a very similar to music and composition. That said, I hope you enjoy it! -S1gns

Musings from the dawn of the age of ambient

When we stare out into the void of our existence and find ourselves at a precipice of a culture shift where spirituality is mending with technology and the longing for space. This is the place where our souls meet and converge with the divinity of our true inner voice and as a vehicle, and music becomes the medium.

Our body’s natural rhythms attune to the slow moving motion of a sustained note and our spirit ignites our imagination as it multiplies through sonic depth and reverberation. As if now, after centuries of the unexplainable having no outlet of our innermost expression, we are now able to finally have a voice our hearts once knew.

This is ambient.

Through the power of innovation and the accessibility of information, we live in a time when the actualization of our dreams is at our fingertips. The tools we use to create our visions and the skills we have long sought after to attain  are as close to us as ever, and the only thing left between us and the attainment of desire is time.

So with all this power comes a purpose, and the proliferation of the art and culture surrounding ambient must have an outlet. What is this trail of inspiration of our souls calling leading us to? The destination feels attainable but hidden beneath a veil of uncertainty sanctified by our own willingness to dive deep into the well of the infinite.

Each time we create, we embark on a journey of reclaiming a piece of what our souls see beyond the veil. We grasp at the esoteric realms in the creation of sound and bring light to the possibility that there is something more beyond what our eyes can see and something sacred that only sound can touch.

Never before in the history of our species have we felt so connected to one another. And with these shared emotional states of consciousness comes the age of the awareness that all things are not separate, and through sharing our knowledge we see new possibilities and potentials for growth like never before.

We know see how quickly we’ve become interconnected and our ability to transcend across the field of consciousness through the immediacy of thoughts and intuition. We share our ideas through our expression of intention to explain the unexplainable, and vicariously experience those realities in real time.

Immersion is essential for our foundational awareness of our practice. To not only provide that with the sounds we create but to immerse oneself in the discipline, knowledge, and culture of ambient. The more you begin to merge with the music, you will become a channel for this space to flow.

Becoming a conduit for a divine flow within the creation of the music and the medium itself. To invest your heart and mind into something which then translates into channeling of the pure manifestation of the universe itself. The spark of creation brought to reality for a higher purpose. Illuminating the essence of a moment of sound in the flux of time, frozen and captured by soul and never to be repeated again.

To put the time and the effort in and live and die as the old masters did, that’s the kind of blood sweat and dedication that they had and the same feeling and same rhythm of urgency can be applied to your own work - you just need to make it in the rhythm of the moment.

If we can give ourselves the grace and the honesty to provide the music with context towards a larger significance, we can then move into a new space of impactful experiences for our listeners. Reaching out to something beyond the realm of our scope, which no instrument can reach.

This is the gift within the music itself. Nothing is withheld at a soul based level then nothing is outstanding when you leave the Earth. You’ve said all that you needed to say and heard all that you needed to hear to facilitate the purpose of the heart and mind synergies as one.

What our spirits hold inside is eternal and ambient expresses and illustrates that place that only each of us recognize. The more we continue to share these fabrics of sound the more we begin to unlock what’s beyond the realm of what our eyes can see. This is one of the true purposes of ambient.
