Back again for another S1gns Check In!

We've been on quite the journey over the past 6 months so it's time to take stock and gather up some thoughts as we head into the rest of 2023. I feel so strongly that, amongst all the things that we deal with on a daily basis, there is still some overwhelmingly positive energy to be felt and utilized. If you can focus your attention on where you are now, rather than where you've been or what's ahead, you can use the power of the present moment to change your life forever.

Thank you guys for all the support you've shown me! I'm really excited for the future.

Cheers,

Chris | S1gns Of L1fe

My progress so far with my 3 goals: 1) To consistently produce a new track every week followed by every other day. I have not missed a single week for producing a meditation music track since the last check in. I have started to produce it at the start of the week rather than last minute on Thursday night before the cut off. I am at the point now where I can actually start doing sound design and begin working on my actual ambient project. I managed to come up with a name for my first track this week and the concept I have for my project is now tangible and I also have an appropriate name for it. 2) To learn motion graphics and to be able to make my own videos. I have been making slow progress with this. Minus last week, I have managed to stay late at work for at least an hour and take a free course on Blender. I am on to part 3 out of 7 now. 3) To get 100 Youtube Subs. With my meditation music YouTube channel that I have been using to learn YouTube, I have just gotten my 11th subscriber. It may not seem like much but after my update last month - I don't think I had any subs. My new video just came out today and it already had 50 watches when I checked which (for me at least) blew me away. My last few videos are getting a couple of hundred views as opposed to just 20 or 30 like they were a couple of months back. Overall I am pretty happy with my progress, although I wish learning Blender were a bit easier. This weekend is Victoria day long weekend in Canada and I will be spending at least 5 hours each day working on sound design and 2 hours with Blender as well as maybe a bit of piano and going over an old course I took on 4 part harmony.

I’ve slowed down recently, after a travel break and realised that in my quest for finishing a track every week, I wasn’t taking the time to reflect and learn my tools, in a deliberate way. So I’m incorporating this into my workflow, and allow time for creating patches, and reading manuals as I go. It’s easy to fall into routines and think that by using the gear in the same way you’ll get better, and you might, but being a bit more deliberate about this is helping me close some gaps. So yes, one of my goals right now is to spend regular time just tinkering with my tools, reverse engineering patches for example or just ensuring I’ve touched every knob on the synth and know its function .. it’s necessary work!
