Even if you don't feel like you're getting anywhere...there's always hope.

One of my favorite "perks" of being a teacher, community leader, and cornerstone of this ambient community is watching other people rise, overcome their own personal obstacles, and make progress on their own personal musical journey. What my seem small or insignificant to some, can look dramatically different from an outside perspective - especially if you've been watching growth happen right before your eyes. It never gets old, and it helps remind me that what I do has value and is important, even if I don't always realize it in the moment.

But what happens if you're on the other side of all this...waiting for your "a-ha moment" to happen or don't know where to go next? This can be frustrating and time consuming, but want to invite into your thoughts today is perhaps you need to trust the flow and the timing of the universe more. What if your first big "breakthrough" was just beyond what you could immediately see on your calendar and it was just waiting for you down the line, but a few more steps are needed before you can actually claim that prize that's waiting for you on the other side. This is the universal trust that opens us up to something much larger outside of ourself, but it also takes a huge dose of faith and belief in your own inner willpower and resolve to stay on the path.

We all need to be inspired. We all need that fire that burns inside to keep going - even when we feel like our progress is being slowed down to a halt, often from circumstances beyond our control. But this feeling, these moment where our trust is tested, remember that there's a reasoning behind everything. Maybe there's something you weren't seeing before that you needed to take a look at. Maybe there's something more that needs your attention, like a certain synth or a certain style of music that's waiting for you to make that breakthrough with. These are what we call "potentials" and remember those are within you and waiting for you always. If you can remember that, and allow that feeling to keep you going, you'll find that you have more trust in the flow, trust in the creative process, and be open to whatever comes next.

Great post. I've been trying to remember lately that frustration is a part of the anger family of emotions. Anger means you care deeply, and so does frustration! It can feel hard to sit with but knowing that when I'm not making as much progress as I'd hoped, I can note that I still care deeply about making progress, and that in itself is a miracle. I'm on a path I want to be on in this precious life.

Thank you for sharing this Chris. I just joined this community, so this is my hi to everybody. For some strange reason, I always have enjoyed setbacks as those have always given me more drive to tackle something even harder, or these have given me new insights that have allowed me to correct the course instead of burning fuel on something that's not worth it. I do believe the same counts with slow progresses. It allows you to take time and zoom in on details. And those times are ok, I have come to accept that, sometimes your time, energy and attention are needed somewhere else. Life tells and guides on so many ways. There is this stoic concept I embrace: what stands in the way becomes the way. Even if that is sometimes a difficult one to swallow. :-). I'm taking my time and I trust things will evolve into the right direction as long as you continue working on it, fast or slow. Looking forward to digest all the content here. Thanks a lot.
