How good is this new synth?

When I first tried out synplant 1.0 back in 2013, the interface and the workflow wasn't exactly intuitive. It was an interesting concept, for sure. But for me, the utility just wasn't there to justify the price. Now here we are in 2023 and they've completely revamped this nearly forgotten about synthesizer with some cutting edge technology, giving it an entirely fresh re-introduction to the sound design world.

Does it live up to the hype? I couldn't wait to find out! How are you liking this synth so far? Let me know in the comments below!

Cheers and enjoy,

Loving your "kid in a candy shop" reactions. I am really trying to resist the urge to pull the trigger on this one. Still have so much to learn in other areas, but totally see where this could be used. Especially, if you provide more tonal type samples.

Rick Glasser

Not my cup of tea. Haven't seen anyone's review that gives me an "oh, wow, need that" moment.

Secret Moonbase

Interesting but somehow I don't see myself using it to actually make music. Maybe I'll try it myself some day

I look forward to your exploration of Minimal Audio's first synth, if that's what you were referring to. All their tools are instant buys for me.

I take the "AI" label with a big grain of salt, don't you? AI is the domain of billion-dollar corporations with petabytes of data storage, I am quite unsure how that fits inside a plugin :-) But then, like you say, creating those sounds from scratch would be some work, and it looks like this thing can surprise you. Unless of course it wears off eventually, because when things are this random, it can get tiresome too. I should probably try it for 3 weeks, lol. Oh, and I've been waiting over a year for Microtonic to go on sale (same company), but it seems they don't do sales, even on Black Friday.

It seems like one of those tools that you open with no inspiration and stumble upon something interesting. As a music making tool, probably not as it is too random.

Argonath

Sounds great for creating weird sounds. Unfortunately they used the left handed DNA, luckily I'm no Biologist :-D..

Ken Blanton

Perhaps I shouldn't say this but ... the UI reminds me of my washing machine ...
