Patreon Exclusive for all paid tiers!

In episode 3 of Sound Design Bytes, my new sound design series we're taking a look at none other than Minimal Audio's Current. The truth about Current? It's an amazing synth. It's not perfect by any means, but as a tool for sound design it's a really solid choice and it now ranks high up on my list for anyone who's looking to get into this genre to be their first paid synth.

The plethora of options we have available is pretty amazing. Between the stellar multi-layered granular engine, to the really well thought out FM/AM, and the absolutely insane quality of the effects it comes stock with, I don't see myself getting bored of this synth any time soon. I'm positive that Current is going to be making a regular appearance on this series.

Let me know what you guys think! Are you using Current yet? Have you thought about it? Let me know in the comments below.

Cheers,

-S1gns

p.s. If you're looking for other episodes in this series, I'm spreading them out between different tiers depending on the relevancy of the subject matter. Cheers and I hope you enjoy!

Cheers Chris! I’m enjoying Currents too. Why do you say not perfect? Which I agree with actually and feel like Pigments is a better all round synth with many of the same features

Instant buy for me. Their effects plugins are superb. Looking forward to your continuing exploration of this synth. In the video you asked about other synths. Have you played with Parawave's Rapid or VPS's Avenger (the latter is somewhat GUI-challenged IMHO)?

Javier - Itinerant Ghost

Oh man, I've been staying away from this synth, as I have way too many that can do similar things. Still, the speed at which you achieved the patch and the granular/sampling capabilities are now making me reconsider as this seems like a good compact synth, that could potentially save me a lot of time. So I might have to download the demo at least and test it out for myself

Love this series Chris! Keep them coming. I loved the one you did on Omnisphere. There is so much to learn on that synth.
