Lucy had no idea how her decisions in life had somehow led her to this exact moment. She had joined Fairy Tail because she had wanted to find a place where she could belong, meet interesting people, and finally have somewhere she could call home.

Never had the girl imagined that her new guild would become the safest place in her life only for that safety to disappear because one of the strongest wizards in the building had apparently decided to turn the entire place upside down. Of all the places she could have been caught in the middle of a conflict, it had to be the guild hall. She barely had time to wonder how everything had gone so wrong before Cana suddenly shouted, "Watch out!" and grabbed her by the arm, yanking her sideways just as a bolt of lightning tore through the space where Lucy had been standing. It struck a tree outside the guild and obliterated it in an explosion of splintered wood and smoke, leaving her staring at the destruction with her mouth hanging open.

"What the hell?! That would have killed me on the spot!" She screamed with a pale face, these S-class wizards were insane! Getting hit by a tsunami and surviving was one thing… but that didn't mean she could miraculously survive a thunderbolt attack!

Cana seemed to understand the same thing, though her response was considerably less frightened as she stared toward the approaching mage.

"You should calm down, Laxus. You know just as well as me that this is stupid! Let's just all take a breather."

Across the guild hall, Makarov had already reached the end of his patience. "You've gone too far! What the hell are you doing attacking your guildmates!?"

He raised his hands and attempted to use his magic to break through the barrier surrounding the guild members, but his body suddenly betrayed him. “Kah… cough! Cough!” A violent cough escaped him, forcing him back into his smaller form as his strength gave out. Mirajane and several others immediately turned toward him in alarm.

"Master!"

Laxus stopped for a moment and looked toward his grandfather. Rather than showing concern any further, his expression hardened. "You're getting old. You should stay back and watch as I show you how to properly take over a guild and teach its people. I'll show you what proper leadership looks like."

Erza stared directly at him through the barrier, her expression becoming colder by the second. "Do you have no shame?"

The blonde mage slammed his fist against the barrier around her, his eyes narrowing as lightning crawled across his body. "You should be the one asking me that! Maybe not you, but everyone else in this guild keep defiling the name of Fairy Tail every time you go on a mission. There's always something getting destroyed, always another report about Fairy Tail being a guild that can't be taken seriously. There are already other guilds waiting for the chance to take our place, and I won't stand around while you people keep giving them the opportunity!"

Each word only made the expression on the redhead's face harden. "If that's how it's going to be, then I'll make sure you don't do anything stupid!"

Erza immediately attempted to force her way through the runes with a stronger weapon, but the barrier refused to give up. Gray joined her effort, forming an icy projectile and launching it directly into the wall, only for the attack to shatter against the runes without leaving so much as a crack. “What the hell is up with this barrier?” Erza followed with her sword, striking the barrier with enough force to make the surrounding area shake, but the result remained the same. The wall of magic simply held.

"Don't bother," Freed called from nearby. "These are experimental runes I found in an ancient ruin. They are acting as a powerful barrier with a set of rules. Only those who are over four hundred years old can ignore it."

Laxus glanced toward the sealed members before looking back over the guild hall. "I was originally planning on having this room deployed during the festival, but plans change. Now I have to work with what I've got. It isn't perfect, but it'll do. I'll start with the small fries and handle the others later."

His attention eventually settled on Lucy. The blonde had been trying her best not to look like a frightened rabbit, though the way she was trembling and staring at him with wide eyes made that attempt completely unsuccessful. Laxus studied her for a moment before continuing. "Oi, don't make it look like I'm the bad guy in this scenario. Since you're a new member, I'm willing to give you another chance to apologize. I'll overlook everything you've done. I'll even ignore Cana's actions and chalk them up to her being drunk as usual."

Lucy had been terrified only moments earlier, but the more she listened, the more that fear was being replaced by sheer disbelief. Was this guy seriously standing there threatening everyone while acting as though he were doing them a favor?

Every word made her want to march over and punch him directly in the face, yet the memory of that lightning striking the tree outside made her body firmly reject the idea. Her mind told her to keep her mouth shut and do whatever he demanded if she wanted to avoid being fried, but her pride refused to cooperate. She pulled down one eyelid with her finger, stuck out her tongue, and gave him the only answer that felt appropriate.

"Piss off."

Crackle!

“As you wish." Lightning immediately erupted around Laxus's body. The temperature in the guild seemed to change as the electricity crawled over him, his expression becoming considerably more menacing as he took a step forward. Before he could close the distance, however, a large hand suddenly settled on his shoulder.

“—!?”

"You should reconsider what you're doing."

The entire guild seemed to freeze around the two men. Even Laxus stopped as the tall figure standing behind him looked down with a tired expression. Gildarts had arrived without making a spectacle of himself, yet his presence alone was enough to draw the attention of everyone in the room. The man having already broken through the runes before anyone even realized it.

“...”

Freed remained unsurprised but his nervousness visibly grew.

Ignoring the green haired man’s reaction, the strongest wizard continued to stare at the blonde. "Fighting your own guild members is never a good idea, especially her. It won't end well."

Despite facing the man widely regarded as Fairy Tail's strongest mage, Laxus didn't back down. He turned his head slightly, his expression refusing to show even the slightest hint of fear.

"Are you going to stand up for them? Always taking the pressure off them and doing all the work? That's exactly how you create weaklings."

“Weaklings? That's a funny way to describe your guildmates.” Gildarts shook his head. "Guild members are family, friends, and people we can trust. This isn't an army."

"Stop with this bullshit." Laxus's irritation grew as he faced him properly. "You're starting to sound like the old man every day. You, out of everyone here, should understand what it's like to be powerful and earn the respect and fear of other wizards. No one should be able to tarnish your name or the name of your guild without consequences. I guarantee that if it weren't for me and the other S-class mages, Fairy Tail would've been in the gutters with the kind of people who fill this place."

“And so what? Do you even know why Fairy Tail came to exist? Hah,” a tred sigh escaped Gildarts as he shook his head. "You used to be so different when you were a young brat. How did that young brat turn into this bitter idiot?"

Laxus's eyes narrowed. "Just because you're the strongest doesn't mean I'm afraid to fight you. Are you going to stand in my way? If you are, I won't hesitate to fight you too."

The declaration caught even his own teammates off guard. Freed's expression tightened as he looked between the two men. "Hey, Laxus… this isn't a good idea. This is Gildarts."

“Can't believe I'm gonna say this, but maybe we shouldn't be running into conflict now so casually. You still need to recover.” Bickslow scratched his head, his usual enthusiasm noticeably diminished. "I'm always up for a good fight, but this might be a little above us."

Evergreen stared toward Gildarts, her eyes widening. "I'm pretty sure that guy just ignored my petrifying spell when I looked at him!"

Laxus barely had time to react to their comments before Gildarts simply turned away from him. His attention shifted toward Lucy and then toward Cana beside her, as though the confrontation with him had temporarily become irrelevant.

"What do you plan on doing?"

Lucy blinked, caught completely off guard by the question. "What?"

The older mage looked between the two women, his expression remaining remarkably casual despite the tension surrounding them. "This kid here is being an ass, we can all see it. And he's targeting you clearly, so that's why I'm asking you. What do you think I should do?”

Seeing this, Lucy nearly muttered that Gildarts should simply deal with Laxus himself, but she stopped when she remembered what the blond had said earlier, especially the way he had called Broly weak and casually demeaned practically everyone in the guild. It irritated her more than she wanted to admit. Having barely been a member of Fairy Tail for any length of time, yet she already understood that this was not the kind of place where someone could simply decide they were above everyone else and expect the others to accept it. Taking a breath, she admitted, "I'm probably going to regret saying this, but... I think we can handle him."

“Oh? Are my ears deceiving me? Did I hear that correctly?” Gildarts raised an eyebrow at her. "So you're saying they should just knock Laxus and the others unconscious and get this over with? He might be acting as a brat here but he's still plenty powerful."

“Um… I wouldn't say knock over.” Lucy shook her head. "I'm a member of Fairy Tail too. That makes this my responsibility just as much as yours. If someone like him wants to teach everyone a lesson about strength, then maybe it's time someone taught him one instead. I want to prove that I'm not weak and also that he shouldn't be looking down on me or Cana."

“Heh, interesting.” A broad grin spread across Gildarts's face as he reached over and gave her shoulder an approving tap. "I can see why you're friends with Broly. Fine, then. Let's do it." He headed toward the barrier where Makarov was being kept, raising a hand toward the green haired wizard. "Open a door for me."

“What?” Freed momentarily grew speechless, looking at Laxus for help on how to handle this situation. The latter just shrugging his shoulders, not even seemingly bothered by any of it.

“Just do as he wants.”

The rune barrier shifted just enough to create an opening, allowing the older mage to step through. Freed remained where he was, watching the situation unfold with an uncertain expression as Gildarts calmly crossed the room and took a seat beside Makarov as though this were nothing more than an ordinary day at the guild. The old master stared at him in disbelief before finally finding his voice. "You're actually going to sit here and watch this?"

"Lighten up. Have some trust in your children, you used to keep blasting my ears about trusting my teammates in the past all time. What's so different now? Plus, I can just leave this place if things get problematic, just treat it as a test of sorts. They're stronger than you think."

“Only you can make light of such a serious moment.” Makarov muttered under his breath for several seconds, rubbing his forehead as though the entire situation had aged him another decade. Eventually, he gave up trying to argue and sank back into his seat with a weary sigh. "I'm getting too old for this." His attention shifted toward Lucy, his expression becoming more serious. "Teach the brat a lesson in my place. I leave the responsibility to you. And if possible, please don't destroy the guild while you're doing it."

“Hey, you can't be serious. You're going along with this!?” Gray and several members on the other hand were clearly not so keen with the idea — Erza included.

“Master, I ask you to reconsider.”

“I have, my decision is final.”

While everyone's attention was distracted with his words, Lucy figured she could use this to her advantage and quickly reached for her keys. "Capricorn! Taurus! Teach him a lesson!"

The two celestial spirits appeared almost immediately, charging Laxus from opposite directions. Taurus raised his massive axe while Capricorn came in with his fists ready, both attempting to overwhelm the lightning mage through sheer numbers. At the same time, Cana grabbed Lucy by the arm and pulled her toward the exit.

"Run!"

Lucy barely had time to process what was happening before she found herself being dragged outside. "W-Why are we running? Why are you running!?"

"Because it's better for us to fight somewhere else than in the middle of the guild!" Cana kept moving, pulling her along as quickly as possible. "If Laxus keeps throwing lightning around in there, somebody's going to get hurt. We need somewhere less dangerous and less populated!"

Lucy looked around frantically. "Where exactly do you think we're going to find somewhere like that?!"

Cana's answer never came because a bolt of lightning suddenly tore through the air and struck the ground beside them. The blast sent dirt and debris flying, forcing both women to veer sharply to the side. Lucy screamed as she stumbled forward, barely keeping her balance.

"Oh no! No! No! Nevermind, run faster!"

She immediately broke into a full sprint, leaving Cana scrambling to keep up as they raced away from the guild. Neither of them had any real idea where they were going until a large cathedral appeared in the distance.

"That'll do! Inside!"

They rushed through the entrance, with Lucy finally slowing down enough to catch her breath. "What's our plan?"

Cana stared at her. "You don't have a plan?"

At that moment, Lucy was at a complete loss and began to panic. "No! I was following you! I thought you had a plan!"

"You're the one who keeps saying you're not weak, and now you're telling me you don't have a plan?"

“It was a spur of the moment thing! I wasn't thinking it through!” Lucy grabbed both sides of her head and dropped onto one knee. "We're doomed!"

Before Cana could respond, the cathedral's window suddenly shattered inward as two figures came crashing through it. Taurus and Capricorn rolled across the floor, both showing signs of the fight they had just endured. Burn marks covered parts of their bodies, while several wounds were visible beneath the damage.

"Taurus! Capricorn!"

Capricorn slowly pushed himself upright, brushing some of the debris from his clothes. "Our opponent is formidable."

Taurus climbed to his feet behind him, tightening his grip around his axe. "He is a stubborn one."

The cathedral doors suddenly opened with enough force to slam against the walls. Laxus stepped inside with his hands buried in his pockets, looking almost completely unbothered by the chase. "Are you finally done with this game of cat and mouse?" His eyes settled on the two women. "What was the point of running? I'm not trying to force anyone to follow my rules. If they can't accept the guild I intend to build, then they're more than welcome to leave Fairy Tail."

That immediately wiped away what little fear Lucy had been feeling. "Like hell I'm leaving Fairy Tail just because some jerk decides to show up and start demanding things from everyone! Just because you're the master's grandson doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want!"

Laxus groaned and scratched the side of his head. "So be it."

Lightning crawled across his hand before he slammed his foot down. "Lightning Dragon's Iron Fist!"

The attack struck the frozen ground around them, sending a surge of lightning across the surface. Lucy and Cana barely had time to react before Taurus and Capricorn grabbed them both and leapt upward, carrying them away from the blast. Laxus followed immediately, his entire body surrounded by crackling electricity.

"Just because you're women doesn't mean I'll hold back!"

He launched himself toward them, but before he could reach his targets, the ceiling above suddenly exploded inward. Natsu came crashing through the opening, his foot slamming directly into Laxus and sending him hurtling toward the floor below.

"Stop being an idiot, Laxus!" The Dragon Slayer crashed into the ground, only for Natsu to follow him down with a roar. "Dragon's Fire Dragon's Roar!"

Crash!

A massive pillar of flame erupted from his mouth and descended upon the spot where Laxus had landed. Fire swallowed the area, spreading across the floor and tearing through sections of the cathedral as Lucy and Cana stared in shock.

Lucy finally managed to find her voice. "How did you get out of the rune barrier?"

Natsu scratched the back of his head. "I don't really know. I just walked out and came here to teach this guy a lesson!"

That was convenient, maybe the rune barrier was not as powerful as she imagined… but wouldn't Erza already be here if that was the case? Or maybe she was watching them from somewhere and will intervene when necessary? No… that didn't sound like her.

While Lucy continued to ponder, on the other hand, Cana's eyes widened. "What about the other members of Laxus’ team?"

Her question was answered almost immediately. The remaining members of the Thunder God Tribe appeared together, with Bickslow's puppets floating around him as they moved toward Natsu while Freed stepped forward and began placing runes across the area. The magical symbols spread across the floor and walls, cutting off the route Lucy and Cana had intended to use.

"Dammit!"

Lucy quickly recalled Taurus before reaching for another key. "Gate open, Sagittarius!"

A flash of light brought the celestial spirit into the cathedral, a man clad in a horse costume of all things and with his bow already in hand. He immediately drew the string and released an arrow toward Freed and Laxus, forcing both of them to react as the fight erupted into chaos once more.

Freed was not fast enough to dodge. The attack caught him cleanly and sent him flying backward, while Laxus avoided the same strike by coating his entire body in lightning and moving around it with startling ease. Lucy could only stare at him in disbelief as the realization sank in. "This guy can actually turn into lightning!?"

The lightning-coated mage immediately changed direction, taking a sharp U-turn before crashing into Natsu and sending the Dragon Slayer tumbling backward.

Before his body could even reach the ground, Laxus caught him by the neck and lifted him effortlessly. "I don't have time to deal with you." With that, he hurled Natsu aside, only for the Dragon Slayer to recover in midair.

Natsu twisted his body, performed a backflip, and raised his arm as flames gathered around it in a brilliant glow. "Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" His flaming fist slammed into a nearby pillar, knocking it loose and sending the massive structure crashing down toward Laxus. The attack failed to catch him, however, as the blonde mage once again transformed into lightning and slipped away from the falling debris.

Lucy quickly regained her footing and got Capricorn’s attention, pointing toward the fight. "Don't let up! Keep punching him!" The Celestial Spirit understood immediately, charging forward and driving his head into Laxus's back just as Natsu arrived from the opposite side and punched him across the face.

“Oof!”

This enough to disorient their opponent. Capricorn followed with another attack, keeping Laxus occupied while Natsu continued pressing from another angle.

“Keep attacking him, don't give him any time to think! Don't just punch him away, stay close!”

Every time Capricorn drove a fist toward his face, Natsu attacked the side of his body near the waist. Whenever Laxus tried to raise an arm to defend himself or attempted to leap away, Capricorn kicked his legs out from under him and ruined his stance, giving Natsu the opening to coat his fist in flames and drive it into his chin.

Any attempts at defending himself would result in an area being left unprotected and vulnerable for one of the attacks to take advantage. Their attacks came one after another with barely a second between them, leaving him no opportunity to establish a proper defense or even think through his next move. They struck from different directions, refusing to give him the chance to regain his balance, and every successful hit only encouraged them to press harder.

“Are we… winning this?” Lucy whispered, still in disbelief at what was going on. It was barely working, and that alone stunned her beyond anything. “I'm a bit confused how those two can fight together so well since I never have Capricorn fight with Natsu before like this…”

“It's one of my many talents, lady Lucy.”

“Focus on the fight, not me!”

"Enough!" Evergreen's voice cut through the chaos as she removed her glasses and prepared to use her magic. Lucy nearly looked directly at her eyes before Cana rushed over with a cloth in hand, and immediately covered Evergreen's face with it. "Don't look at her! She has magic that can turn people into stone!"

Turn people into what!?

The warning sent a shiver through Lucy, but when she looked back toward the fight between Natsu and Capricorn, her fear quickly gave way to excitement. “He shouldn't be able to keep this up any longer, he should be going down soon. We're winning!" With Laxus being kept under constant pressure, she began to believe they might actually have a chance.

She turned toward Sagittarius, intending to order him into the fight as well, only for several walls of runes to suddenly materialize around both of them. "Oh no!" The realization came immediately. Freed had recovered.

Bickslow had also managed to get back on his feet, and he looked toward the summoned Celestial Spirit with an amused expression. "You're not half bad, but if the summoner is defeated, the other Celestial Spirits should disappear too." Cana immediately tried to take advantage of his attention being elsewhere, launching a sneak attack from behind, but the floating puppets surrounding him intercepted it. The resulting explosion failed to reach him, leaving the blue-haired mage standing unharmed as he stuck out his tongue with a mocking grin. "You're still as slow as ever."

“Shut it.”

“Hey, just stating facts.”

"It doesn't matter," the other mage continued, watching the center of the battlefield. "It looks like Laxus is starting to become serious. He's done playing around."

"What?" Lucy barely had time to ask before an enormous explosion erupted from the middle of the room.

Boom!

Crackle!

A pillar of lightning suddenly burst from Laxus and shot straight into the sky, tearing through the rooftop and destroying everything caught around him. “Aaah!” Natsu was hurled backward by the force of the blast, while Capricorn took the full brunt of the attack and was knocked unconscious almost immediately. Lucy threw her arms up to protect herself from the shockwave, struggling to remain standing as the air itself seemed to shake around her. When she finally lowered her arms, her eyes widened at the sight before her.

Laxus was growing larger. His muscles expanded as his body increased in size, his height rising until his clothes began tearing under the strain. His frame became enormous, standing as large as Broly in a transformation that made him almost unrecognizable compared to his previous appearance, while arcs of lightning continued crawling across his body.

“Tch, those two almost got me there. I don't remember Natsu fighting like that before.” He rolled his neck, the movement accompanied by several loud cracks. "I have to admit, I underestimated you. You're not half bad. I never expected that I would have to use this form against you. It's unfortunate that things have to end so soon." He drew in a deep breath, his lungs expanding as he gathered an enormous amount of power before opening his mouth and unleashing the attack. "Lightning Dragon's Roar!"

Unlike his prior attack, this one exuded far more concentrated ethernano. The beam that erupted from him was nearly twice the size of his previous attack, racing straight toward Lucy. “—!” She froze as the enormous blast approached, her body refusing to move quickly enough to escape. There was no time to summon another Spirit or even get out of its path.

"Fire Dragon's Roar!"

Natsu jumped in front of her and released his own attack. The two beams collided in midair, their flames and lightning struggling against one another for several moments. The shockwave from both attacks forcing those around to seek cover, including his teammates. Eventually, one side started to fail rather quickly and soon enough Laxus's attack overwhelmed him. The Fire Dragon Slayer was blasted backward, his body crashing directly into Lucy and sending both of them flying through the air.

“Waaaah!” Lucy began flailing as she watched Natsu get caught by Happy, the Exceed swooping in with his wings and saving him before he could fall. "Save me too! Save me too!"

Happy looked back at her from a distance, already struggling to keep Natsu airborne. "I can't! You're too heavy for me!"

“This is not the time for joking you stupid cat!”

“I was never joking, meanie Lucy!”

The blonde had barely begun forming a curse in response when two hands caught her in midair. “Huh?” The unexpected rescue left her stunned as she realized who had grabbed her. A familiar Saiyan was holding her with an expression of genuine confusion, his eyes shifting between her and the destruction below. Broly looked down at the battlefield and then back at the girl in his arms. "What is going on here?"

His attention eventually settled on the enormous figure standing below them. The sight of Laxus's transformed body seemed to register, and Broly's expression changed slightly. "Oh, he woke up? That was quick. I thought he would be bedridden for longer. His Ki is still quite weak for him to be walking around like that.”

“You mean we've been fighting a weaker Laxus this entire time!? Wait, hold on… nevermind, it's better this way.” Lucy took a breath before explaining, "It's a long story. Just he woke up and started to search for you and wanted revenge. Things started to get heated between him and basically everyone. Cana, Natsu, and I were just trying to teach this jerk a lesson after he started attacking everyone in the guild."

“Attacking everyone? That's not acceptable.” Broly's expression immediately hardened as his eyes shifted from Lucy to Laxus. The Saiyan began floating toward him, and she immediately realized what he intended to do. She had no doubt that he could handle the situation and overpower the other man with ease, but that was exactly what she did not want. This was her problem, and she wanted to be the one to resolve it rather than once again standing behind someone stronger while they fought on her behalf.

"Wait." When Broly stopped and looked back at her in confusion, Lucy shook her head. "No, I can handle this."

"What?"

Did he really need to make a face like that? It made her feel even more guilty… "For as long as I can remember, it's always been you helping me and saving me whenever I'm in danger. I'm grateful for that, but I'm your teammate too. I want to be able to handle my own situations without always needing to rely on you."

The Saiyan glanced toward Laxus before looking back at her. "Aren't you scared of lightning? If it hits you, wouldn't that be something you couldn't endure? We never really practiced your natural defense against something like that."

"I know." Lucy looked around the battlefield, forcing herself to think rather than panic. Going against Laxus head-on was not going to work, especially in his current state. Even with her summons, she would be at a serious disadvantage against an S-class wizard with that much raw power. Her eyes then caught sight of Happy trying to lower Natsu toward the battlefield so the Dragon Slayer could join the fight. "No, don't go. Wait."

Happy listened, leaving Natsu dangling in the air as the pink-haired boy looked down at her with confusion. "Why did you stop me?"

"Wait, I have an idea." Her gaze shifted toward the sea in the distance, and the pieces of a plan began falling into place. "Natsu, can you keep provoking Laxus while you're in the air? And Happy, can you fly fast enough to keep ahead of him?"

A wild grin spread across Natsu's face. "Of course I can!" His teeth showed as flames gathered around his mouth and hands, and he immediately began hurling several long-range fire attacks toward Laxus. One of them struck the lightning mage directly, but he merely raised his arms and allowed the flames to wash over him before lowering them without so much as a scratch.

"Such pointless attacks won't work on me." Laxus's attention shifted toward Broly, and his expression hardened. "You finally came back! I was beginning to think you'd run away. Now that you're here, I don't need to waste my time with these lot anymore. We can finish what we started."

Lucy leaned closer to Broly before the Saiyan could respond. "Ignore Laxus. Just fly as fast as you can toward the harbor."

The request clearly confused him, but he nodded and followed her instructions. Lucy immediately called for Happy to keep up as the two took to the air, with Natsu continuing to throw attacks behind them. Laxus watched them retreat while trying to avoid the flames, and the realization that they were escaping only made his temper flare.

"Is this your plan? To run away? Pathetic!" Lightning crackled across his body before he transformed into a bolt and shot toward them. Happy managed to evade him, forcing the attack to pass by harmlessly as Laxus landed on the roof of a nearby building. His expression had become even more irritated.

Lucy quickly recognized the limitation. "He can't turn into his lightning form this high up. Keep attacking him and lead him away!"

They repeated the maneuver several times, drawing Laxus farther from the guild while Broly continued watching the entire situation with an increasingly curious expression. Eventually, he looked toward Lucy.

"What's your plan? Is all of this really necessary? I could handle it."

"I know you can handle it, but I'm doing this for myself too." Lucy kept her eyes on Laxus as they continued toward the harbor. "I want to prove that I'm a member of Fairy Tail and someone who intends to become an S-class wizard. I shouldn't be afraid to face another S-class wizard. I don't want people looking at you and thinking you're weak just because you're paired with me and Cana."

Broly's expression softened. "I don't care if people say that. I'd just smile and continue. I'm with you because we've known each other for years and we're great friends. I'm always happy when I'm with you. If you weren't on my team, I don't think I would have ever left that mountain. I probably would've stayed there forever, secluded from everyone else. You've done a lot of good for me that you probably don't even realize. I wouldn't have become the person I am now without you. I would've remained a weak man."

A blush immediately spread across Lucy's face. The girl had not expected that answer at all, and she found herself wondering when Broly had become so good with words. More importantly, she wasn't sure whether he even realized how the things he said sounded. She quickly shook her head and forced herself to focus on the situation ahead.

"I can think about that later. Right now, we have more important things to worry about." As they approached the harbor, another thought occurred to her. "I have a plan. Since Laxus is a Dragon Slayer too, it should work."

She pointed toward the edge of the docks and directed Happy to fly over there. Once they were in position, Lucy raised her hand toward the approaching mage. "Natsu, fire another attack!"

Far behind them, Laxus charged forward with an expression that had become increasingly furious, looking less like a wizard and more like an enraged animal determined to catch its prey.

"It's working! I'm fired up!" Natsu took a deep breath, his lungs swelling as flames gathered inside his mouth before he unleashed a Fire Dragon's Roar toward the approaching enemy.

Laxus managed to avoid the attack, the flames passing around him as he continued forward. "I got you now, brats!"

Lightning erupted around his body as he transformed again, shooting straight toward Happy and Natsu at tremendous speed. Lucy waited until the very last moment before giving the command.

"Drop him!"

Natsu's eyes widened. "Huh? What do you mean b—

Happy gave an enthusiastic salute. "Aye, sir!"

Before Natsu could even protest, Happy released him. “—y AAAAAAAHHH!” The Dragon Slayer immediately plummeted downward with a terrified scream while Laxus shot directly through the space where the two had been moments earlier, missing them completely.

Lucy turned toward Broly and pointed toward the direction she wanted to go. "Throw me as fast as you can in that direction. Aim for the water if possible!"

She expected at least some hesitation, especially given how dangerous the landing could be, or perhaps a concerned question about whether she had lost her mind. Instead, the Saiyan simply flashed a wide grin.

"Okay."

Before Lucy could even brace herself, he drew his arm back and hurled her forward with enough force to make her stomach lurch. "WAAAAAH!" Her scream carried across the air for a few seconds before she forced herself to get a grip, twisting her body to adjust her trajectory as she flew toward Laxus. The landing point was close enough. That was all she needed. Reaching down, she pulled the whip from her hip and swung it toward the lightning mage. The weapon uncoiled through the air before wrapping tightly around his foot.

Laxus barely had time to look down before his eyes widened. "What the hell?"

Lucy yanked the whip with all her strength, using her own momentum to pull him along with her. Both of them plunged downward at an angle, with Laxus crashing through several wooden crates stacked near the edge of the harbor while Lucy hit the turbulent water with a heavy splash. She quickly surfaced, coughing as she looked around and confirmed that her plan had worked.

‘Open, Gate of the Water Bearer! Aquarius!’

A golden light appeared when she raised one of her keys, and the familiar figure of Aquarius emerged from it. The mermaid looked around at the surrounding ocean, her expression immediately becoming more satisfied now that she had been summoned somewhere appropriate. "Humph, finally, somewhere suitable for me. What do you want now, brat?"

"Make the water as turbulent as possible, quick!"

"I don't take orders like that from you, so don't think you can just..."

Knowing this was going to happen, Lucy already had something prepared. "I saw Broly hanging out with a new woman, and I'll tell you everything about it!"

Aquarius's expression changed instantly. Her eyes narrowed, and the amusement vanished from her face as she grabbed her urn with both hands. “I'll kill them!”

She swung the urn with all her strength, sending a surge through the surrounding water. Waves immediately began rising around them, rocking the merchant vessel that Laxus had landed on.

"What the hell is this?!" The lightning dragon slayer forced himself upright, looking around with an increasingly irritated grimace. Then his eyes widened as he finally realized where he was. "A boat?"

Lucy pointed toward the vessel with a grin. "Have fun with that motion sickness." It was a reckless plan, she'd only seen it happen a few times with Natsu and once with Gajeel at the beach. That wasn't exactly enough experience to know whether Dragon Slayers shared the same weakness… but she also saw Wendy using her healing magic on herself recently! A gamble, but she had no choice but to try it.

Aquarius's spell continued taking effect, sending the merchant boat rocking from side to side. Laxus tried to regain his balance, but before he could jump away, the vessel lurched violently and began moving with the current. His face immediately turned pale, then green, as the previous fury drained from his expression. The huge form he had taken during the fight rapidly disappeared, leaving him in his normal state as he dropped to his knees and grabbed the side of the boat.

"Oh, n-no… Urgh!"

The next moment, he began emptying his stomach over the side.

All the tension that had filled the battlefield moments earlier vanished so completely that Lucy couldn't stop herself from bursting into laughter. She covered her mouth, but it did nothing to hide her amusement as she watched one of Fairy Tail's most powerful wizards being reduced to a miserable mess by a rocking boat. Even she could hardly believe that her plan had actually worked. She had not overpowered Laxus, nor had she defeated him through strength or superior magic. She had simply found the one weakness she could exploit and used it at exactly the right moment.

Broly floated over until he was beside her, looking between Lucy, Aquarius, and the miserable Dragon Slayer on the boat. "What is going on here, really?"

Lucy wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye and grinned. "Apparently, all Dragon Slayers are ridiculously motion sick."

The Saiyan stared at her with open amazement before his expression softened into a broad smile. He reached down, picked her up with ease, and held her against him.

"You really are a genius, Lucy."

She happily returned the embrace, still grinning from her success. "I do my best."

For a brief moment, everything seemed perfectly fine. Then Aquarius's voice rang out from behind them.

"Broly, which bitch were you sleeping with?!”
