I didn't remember that I had heard There Is More To This World...it was in an early Doug on Demand session. While I was listening, I had a passing thought that I might have heard it previously, but I didn't want to say one way or another. Either way. That was one of the highlights for me...great tune!

Love seeing more Flower Kings in here. Bring in some Spock’s Beard too! The Great Nothing beckons, Doug!

What an amazing selection of tunes! I saw Stevie Ray at Reading Festival 1983...he was mind-blowing, and anbisland of blues in a line up of new Prog Bands (Marillion, IQ, 12th Night, Solstice, Pallas). Shame he was lost so young. Managed Mann's Earth Band have done some classic covers, inc Blinded By The Light, Redemption Song, Demolition Man etc...and their song Joy ringer is based on Saturn from The Planets. Blondie's Rapture was huge in the UK, as they branched away from their New Wave sound, and blew everyone's minds (Debbie had been doing that to us teenage boys for a couple of years already 😉). The Blood Sweat & Tears song is a real blast from the past, as was Argent. We used to go to London and mess around in Road Argent's keyboard shop in Denmark St (Tin Pan Alley), much to the staff's annoyance as only one of us could play! That Return To Forever has set us all up well for the Jazz Rock feature you have planned. Love Stanley Clarke's playing. The Peter Gabriel track sound sway better live than on the album. Through his record label, Real World, Peter has introduced my ears to so many new sounds from BBA to Nusrat Fateh Alikhan and a host of "World" Music. I'd recommend his "Voices Of The Real World" compilation, which covers the musical globe amazingly. And I know you love choral/ vocal music. Tbh The Flower King's left Mr a little cold...just a bit too prog by numbers for my taste. But good to hear. Keep up the good work!!!

Just wanna let you know that Roine is pronounced Royn-uh! Thanks for the vids :)

Doug: You might want to check out the band Niacin, that features the Hammond vitamin B organ. :>)

Martin Broten

Great stuff as usual. Not to be "that guy" or anything, but the name of the song is "Vulcan Worlds". :-)

David Kingma

Interesting note about Sky Blue and that tour. PG’s daughter, Melanie, sang primarily back up but she did have a few solo’s on that tour. Check out Downside Up from this concert vid. You will be impressed!!

Great video Doug! It's a cool coincidence that Manfred Mann and Rod Argent were both keyboard stars of UK based pop groups in the 60s who then formed successful 70s rock bands named after themselves.

Max Harris

Ross Ballard on the Argent track. He’s an interesting cat. Great song writer, writing for Argent, his solo material, and he’s the guy who gave us “God Gave Rock and Roll to You.” Michael Mann was a fan, and Ross had three songs on the first season of Miami Vice. I’d recommend Ross Ballard’s “Voices,” which was used for a driving montage on Miami Vice.

Richard Moore

Surprised to hear that Manfred Mann hasn't been on the master list. I think I suggested "Waiter, There's a Yawn in My Ear" and/or "Martha's Madman" a long time ago; I'll have to (re)submit those next chance I get.

Steven Nemeth

I am imagining a jam between Stevie and Tommy Emmanuel on acoustic guitars...

Tom (the soggy one)

You know Mann's cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded By The Light". Still a major staple of AOR radio and multiple Sirius/XM channels 49 years after being a top-10 hit and selling millions of copies Same album ("The Roaring Silence") as "Waiter, There's A Yawn In My Ear" mentioned elsewhere in the comments.

Chris Gadsby

Noting Doug’s comments on live music and his comments on more Supertramp, maybe this is the time for the Paris EPL from the masterlist?

Trevor Cotterell

Some interesting ones there - Argent though just stands out - an absolute classic single... I wish I could get Argent to reform for NVRF! My only thought though is I'd love to have heard the live version from Encore.... Outstanding. Maybe another time. Fortunately I saw Argent play it live, and John Verity (guitar & vocals for them for a while) tends to play it live - indeed he did this year for us.
