Hello everyone,

Thanks for voting in the poll for the Extended Play Lounge. Rush gathered the most votes. Genesis came in 2nd. I was pleased to see that there is relative support for all of the choices in this poll. It tells me I'm on the right track with this community. We'll definitely get to these other choices soon.Based on the feedback in the comments, I'll be listening to Cygnus X-1 Book 1 off of A Farewell to Kings followed by all of Hemispheres, which includes Cygnus X-1 Book 2, Circumstances, The Trees, and La Villa Strangiato.I know that I've already reacted to La Villa Strangiato, but I haven't listened to it since my reaction, and I think it would be fun to revisit it within the context of this extended listen.I plan on recording the episode Saturday and posting on Sunday.

I won’t say no to my fav band of all time! Thanks Doug!

Jake Vogt

This is fantastic news! Such a perfect fit for the EPL concept. Looking forward to it!

The Cygnus X-1 addition makes this even more fun!

Glenn Wo

no need to rush it ;)

Fun fact, Cygnus X-1 book 1 contains Geddy Lee's highest sung note on a studio album, and book 2 contains his lowest.

It'll be a Rush to hear a lot of Rush.. hehe.. go for it, Doug..

Anthony Taylor

Just made my Thursday more like a Friday! Keep on truck in’ Doug! Thanks!

Hope you don't have the same experience with Book I as you did with Metropolis! From a narrative perspective, Cygnus X-I Book I adds a bit more than Metropolis Pt I did, but not much. The Rocinante didn't really need to be a part of the Hemispheres narrative, but they did it anyway for whatever reason. Also, note that the ship from The Expanse was named after the ship in Cygnus X-I. Yes, it's also Don Quijote's horse, but the writer of The Expanse were also huge Rush fans.

Andy McKinney

Ooh cool! May we please have a poll for how many of us would like Camel to feature soon?

Mark Marriott

I feel there's some prog snobbery going on here? Not enough love for one of the greatest rock bands ever, Deep Purple. Not proggy enough I guess, despite having one of the best keyboard players and two of the greatest guitarists of their generations. Oh well, I love Rush too so it's alll good.

I got the feeling that most liked all these choices and simply voted for their favorite. We’ll get to some Deep Purple!

Shawn Hegarty

About that... I was thinking 'Perfect Strangers' by Deep Purple might be one you'd find interesting. Some odd time signatures and a real middle-eastern sound to the song. I've always loved it.

very underrated album for sure! Not sure if it counts as "classic" and/or "essential" though

Daniel Andrews

First Patreon account I’ve ever subscribed to! Love what you do Doug! I’m hoping one day I can get you to react to “BE” by Pain of Salvation. A great concept album I think you’ll enjoy!

Len Bimeal

i would really like you to do a reaction to philadelphia band ECHOLYN been around since the early 90s the live version of MEI Is great

Wade Markham

I would like you to delve into Ayreon's Universal Migrator Part 1 & Part 2, please.

☹️ I have a real problem with Rush. I tried so often... But i can't 🙁 Their music is so boring to my ears. Hate his voice, have no emotion. No soul in melodies. I really never get it. When some people says that DT is only musicianship without feeling, i laugh... But it's exactly my feeling with Rush. Feel like earing peace of music made by a computer with mathematics formulas... ☹️☹️ I'm so sorry about that. Genesis or Marillion are so much more important to me... So i will wait. Sorry for my english 😉

Try listening to “Roll The Bones” instead, but you will want to obtain a copy of the Audiofidelity gold version on cd.

Enigmaticus

Of course, my favorite version of ‘Dreamline’ comes from the “Clockwork Angels Tour” from 2013; the year when Rush was finally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Enigmaticus

Yes would follow in 2017 and The Moody Blues were inducted during 2018.

Darn, I missed today’s episode; I must have been taking a nap at that time?

Benjamin van Geest

I must be daft, because I can’t find the video to your reaction to Rush’s Hemispheres…? It's one of the reasons I became a Patreon. Really looking forward to it! Cheers.

Peter Wethman

Why can’t I find this episode?

I just updated the post to include the tag Extended Play Lounge. So, when you search now, you should see it included. Let me know if that doesn't work.

Peter Wethman

Just an FYI the videos for side 2 of Hemispheres were shot in a studio with no audience. Kind of foreshadowing MTV.
