For our next EPL episode, due to drop around the first of March, I'm interested in your take on which album by Ayreon to listen to.I have scored an interview with Arjen Lucassen this coming Tuesday, and I'm planning to release the interview to YT later in the week...likely Thursday. This is around the same time of the next EPL episode's release. And, since Ayreon came in second in the last poll we did, I'm elevating this artist past a 'first round' and asking which album to feature this time.I'm excited to return to a newer recording after doing some classics recently.Vote for one selection. Voting will go through Feb 27. Happy voting!

Oh, nice, an Arjen interview, heck yeah! I'm extremely torn. Human Equation is incredible but the theater kid in me adores Theory of Everything. The Source is incredible as well, but I'd save that for later.

Roy Torset

Finally the human equation🤟❤️

Teasday

I might have actually gone for Into The Electric Castle, but The Human Equation is a good choice. It really opened up some new directions for me back in the day.

Richard Rathbun

I'm unfamiliar with them all so just going with the front-runner :-). I'll learn something regardless of the final tally.

Itsfun2listen

I’ll abstain, doing my hair all week

BRIAN MILLER

I don't know anything about this band.

Excellent!! Arjen Lucassen seems to be a fun guy for interviews. For Ayreon I would have gone with "Electric Castle Live and Other Tales", partially because the "Other Tales" includes some songs outside of the Ayreon banner (including a cover of "Kayleigh"!). However that's also two and a half hours long, so it'd rough to do it.

Garance A Drosehn

I think this poll is a little confused though. "Star One" is not the name of an album by Ayreon, it's a separate project from Arjen, sometimes called "Arjen Anthony Lucassen's Star One". He has released a few studio albums under Star One, with the newest one named "Revel in Time". I believe that was released just last week.

When interviewing him, ask him if there will be any more of this new album in the release format of "Ltd. Deluxe 3CD+Blu-Ray with Artbook & Poster". 🙂 I meant to pre-order that, but it looks like it has already totally sold out! I'm particularly interested in both the 3-cd set (where one CD includes instrumental versions of all the songs), and also the blu-ray version.

Brian Brylow

I agree that the original Electric Castle with all of the guest vocalists would have been great as well.

Andrew Clark

I was just thinking about how much I’d want to see another Long Concept Album dive from you, Doug! The Human Equation is an absolute classic and I can’t wait to see you experience it in all its glory.

Ben Allen

Into The Electric Castle is a favorite, but Universal Migrator Part I: The Dream Sequencer is definitely my favorite. Universal Migrator Part 2: Flight of the Migrator is also great. That said, I'm not super familiar with The Human Equation, so I'll look forward to learning more about that one if it gets selected.

Einaras Sipavičius

I'm only familiar with The Source. I'm enjoying Ayreon's music but it never caught me so hard that I would go to listen Arjen's older stuff. So I voted for the popular option The Human Equation, because it would be my first time listening to that album and with Doug's comments - that's two for the price of one!

Edward Malthouse

They are all great and have incredible talent, with many of your favorites. If you do the Human Equation you'll hear Mike Baker from Shadow Gallery, which is another great prog band. Also Devin Townsend, James LaBrie, Irene Jansen (Floor's sister), Mikael Akerfeldt, and other incredible voices!

Arrow2theACL

The question will probably be if Doug should do the studio version of the Human Equation, or the live Theater Equation. There are Positives and Negatives to each. The live performance is essentially a Rock Opera while the studio has the more famous singers. Since Doug is listening for the first time in short my vote would be the studio version where Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) sings the part of Fear and Devin Townsend sings the part of Rage. Those two were not in the live show.

Richard Karbowski

I absolutely love Actual Fantasy, probably my favorite by Ayreon, followed by 01011001. I'm voting for Human Equation here.

Jonathan Richmond

No love for Into the Electric Castle? 😔 that one is my favorite by far

Newt

Great to see, Arjen get a listening to, he has more talent in his little finger than I have as a musician.

j z

I know the human equation is probably the most popular but the theory of everything is my favorite record of his by far

Tom V

Next time Ayreon is under consideration, you also need to include Into the Electric Castle as a voting option. It's my next favorite Ayreon album after Human Equation

Olivier Ouellet

My top 3 albums are 01011001, into the electric castle, and the human equation, needless to say you know where my vote is on this one, although it would have been nice to see my other favorites as options too. Either way, glad to see ayreon finally making it into the extended lounge. I'm looking forward to it

Itsfun2listen

Yippee! All good I can listen to a quality set of musicians and songwriters and classic masterpiece in Supertramp instead, thanks Doug for the Crime of the Century surprise!

Isaías Júnior

Human Equation is absolutely amazing. Gives me chills and excitement whenever I listen to it.

Itsfun2listen

194 votes compared with other polls demonstrates the lack of interest in this poll content subject. Important factor as it’s a subscriber paid channel

Itsfun2listen

Previous poll was over 1,700. So this one will have a lot less subscribers listening in. My interest is diminishing as there is a small group that are driving the direction of content. I used to listen to YT every other day, haven’t listened for two weeks

Aku Visuri

I doubt anyone could ever be disappointed after listening to the Human Equation

Justin Humberger

Why wasn't the 01011001 album on this list? It probably wouldn't have beaten The Human Equation anyway. Actually I think I've heard that album only once but have watched The Theater Equation several times, which I personally enjoyed more. I'm looking forward to whatever is decided!!

Rick Morse

I know very little about Ayreon, and will look forward to learning about them with y'all.

ibd77

Signed up just for this. Love Ayreon, The Human Equation, The Theory Of Everything, The Electric Castle & even Transitus should be all be covered in its entirety. All amazing pieces of work by Arjen.

Herr Lefe

As I see it, the number of votes does not define the grade of quality. Or my interest; in that respect The Daily Doug's channel is a great opportunity to discover new music. Which I am thankful for.
