In October, we are succumbing to the ‘sounds of the season’, as autumn arrives in the northern hemisphere, and Halloween greets us at the end of the month. Personally, I’m not much into ‘scary movies’, but I’ve always been fascinated by songs/music that is intended to make us uncomfortable. So, this month, we are interested in hearing your best picks for songs that sound eerie or scary, songs that are on a scary topic or reference macabre topics, or songs that remind you of scary images/scenes (for instance, from a movie soundtrack).

These are the 18 Finalists from the Discord round of submissions and voting. Your task is to pick up to five that you would like to see in the video at the end of the month.

I'll include as many songs (in order of their score) as I'm able in about an hour-long video.

There is a google sheet with more information (including the submitter's note) for each of the selections: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12KMm9Z7KxRhWYQ0a7fBdRw5u0-cuUdj7YrQkS7jBfWo/edit?usp=sharing

This is an unlisted YouTube playlist that goes through the songs using the links provided: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLO0n3LrUjxKrgGz0wKcRDchWD9P2BZoPG

Happy voting! We'll run this poll through next Monday, October 24.

Lots of great songs on this list. I think anything off of The Drift by Scott Walker would've been perfect for this list. It's a concept album based on his nigthmares. It's the most terryfing album I've ever listened to by far, and would really recommend "Jolson and Jones" og you make a video in the vein of this one om the future.

BRIAN MILLER

Shoot, I didn't get around to submitting a suggestion on Discord in time. Oh well.

John B

I’d suggest the version of Careful With That Axe Eugene from Pompeii, but I want you to do an EPL of the whole thing

MrWondrous David Beckwith

Viert. When I was a wee lad in grade school in possession of "Ummagumma", oft' was the time when I would find myself playing the catchy keyboard melody of "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" on the family piano. Amazing now how decades blink by. Great talk today with Mister Jimmy Baker. Jake the Bakesman. Jim is joky for Jacob.

Max Eliaser

I Put a Spell On You would've gotten my vote if it was the Screamin' Jay Hawkins version.

I love Werewolves of London but it's pretty simple and repetitive musically. All the interesting stuff is in the lyrics.

MikeCarr

Check out "Moon Over Bourbon Street" by Sting - about a vampire

Dominick Pearce

Warren would be so fun to introduce to the channel. He has so many underrated and great songs.b

Nick Johnson

Come on guys. We need to see Doug's reaction to A Little Piece of Heaven!

John Clark

Absolutely chuffed to see The Lady Lies on the list, it's absolutely the high point of the And Then There Were Three album. With regards to Careful With that Axe Eugene, the Umma Gumma version is the one which needs listening to.

Roman S Doc

Come on patreons, please show a bit of love for Shadow Gallery! Thank you!

AussieOwlCat

Actually, Geoff Castellucci from VoicePlay does a very fun version of Bobby Pickett's The Monster Mash.

Chris Moorcroft

I've always prefered Monster Mash performed by the Bonzo Dog Band, with lead vocal by Vivian Stanshall, who was the Master of Ceremonies voice on Tubular Bells

Oh man i hope A Little Piece of Heaven will be played in that hour. And im really surprised you even consider this kind of song.

Andreas C Georgi

Had you included the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version of "I Put a Spell on You" or Arthur Brown's version, I would certainly have picked that.

Grant Nichols

I didn't see the original discussion, so I may be foolish in expressing a little disappointment with the absence of Subway Song (The Cure), along with representations from Mr Nightmare himself, Alice Cooper. But hey, I may have to just listen to them now, instead. Oh well. :)

chuck Rowland

Oh hahaha they would all be appropriate..

Ray Sincere

I'm hoping "Alucard" has made it by the skin of its teeth.
