I had planned to release this Metal Monday episode (Ep. 546) yesterday, but YouTube had different plans and blocked it. To my surprise, my appeal has been rejected, and the video remains blocked! So, I'm making it available to my Patrons. I hope you enjoy the episode!

Another Japanese metal band you should check out is Loudness.

Ray Sincere

Kawaii rhymes with Hawaii, but the emphases should go strong-week-medium. You've got to practice that word. A lot of words and names here you didn't say right. I'll be happy to say things for you and give you a reference.

Lucas Marshall

A song from Metal Galaxy (second album) that shows off the band (Kami Band) is Distortion or Kagerou

Robert Neely

For Japanese "heavy metal" produced by performers with classical background, you will want the all-women Lovebites. Of particular interest to you will be "Swan Song" with the classical piano introduction by Miyako who weaves classical references into her heavy metal compositions.

I do recommend Band-Maid as a more traditional Japanese Female rock/metal band.

lol Doug probably got to an entire bag of chocolate after trying to upload this to YT.

Dave Brockis

Love Babymetal. Looking forward to some more.

Gerard Dion

Wow, that's pretty awful IMO! K-Pop meets thrash. I agree with you, Doug, on the synth. Maybe if they used something more like power metal with melodies that would blend better with the vocal lines, it might actually work

Chris Torris Olsen

Saw them at Glastonbury a few years ago, it's a really fun show. And the band can play the socks off pretty much anyone. It's silly, it's catchy, it's great! I haven't listened to them for a while now and it surprised me how uninteresting this sounded to me now – but that's because they established that sound for me. From their early stuff, Karate and Headbanger is a bit more interesting.

Good on you, Doug for navigating uncharted waters. This is new to me as well and it is certainly different than anything I have heard. I am also interested to see what they are up to currently and how they have developed their style.

Unlucky Morpheus from Japan could use some love too, amazing band (female singer, 2 guitars, violin, bass, drums) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQpz80bu-rA their violinist has the best violin covers of Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, etc. on YouTube. After I push through Riyoko Takagi world-class Japanese Jazz-fusion pianist/composer, I'll submit them as a suggestion, some of the best music out there today is in Japan.

Mark Brennan

A new genre: pop and metal. I guess there are people out there, everywhere, who are mixing 2 or more genres to come up with something new. Personally, I like waiting nearly 10 years (as in this case) for a new genre to develop before I pay my (ever shrinking) attention to it. My time on earth is short now, and I appreciate you, Doug, for doing "the dirty work" and bringing new music into my life. ;)
