This was supposed to be today's episode, but it got blocked.

I'm hoping to release it on YouTube by the end of the week. But, for now, I'm pleased to share it here on Patreon. As usual, please don't share this unlisted link!

Stevie Ray used fairly heavy strings, and detuned a half-step, to allow for string bending. So, he's playing in a "G" position. Jimi Hendrix often detuned in the same manner. Killer song from a legend!

Martin Broten

A phenomenal player from one of my favorite concert videos. Oddly enough, I saw this same clip reviewed on YT about a month ago and it wasn't blocked. Funny how randomly these things seem to work...

Chris Higgins

My understanding is that SRV usually tuned down half a step to accommodate his massive gauge strings thus providing us with his unique sound. Brilliant.

Hi Doug I'm new to your Patron and I've been waiting for you to see this... I saw SRV 4 times before he passed and he was/is special. This is brilliant Thank You.

Matthew S.

SRV's secret power was rooted in his legendary stank face.

I posted too soon.. I saw SRV the night before he died at Alpine Valley Wisconsin. It was a Saturday show and the crash was Sunday night Monday Morning. Again Thank You

Died way way too young. Saw him in 1987--sheer heart-pumping intensity from start to finish. Don't know how he could have gone to sleep after playing a concert like that.

George Davis-Stewart

Very proficient and emoting splendidly with both instrument and features. Too much showmanship too watch if sober.

Dan Noyes

You need to give Johnny Winter's version of Highway 61 Revisited a spin on the turntable before Guitar Month is over! Thank you for this. Well done!

Benjamin Salazar

I would check out something from the In Session album that is Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. It's an amazing album, and has great footage of the two playing together!

Joseph Pasteris

Thanks for reacting to SRV. Just as you were talking and listening I just teared up every time I hear him. I'm like everyone else that has seen him live. Hope you do more of his music.
