I've picked five classic albums from five classic bands as a complete new slate of options from our last poll. I'm quite curious to see which album y'all select!

Vote for your favorite! The poll will end on Sunday the 16th!

James Jarvis

Sorry, how could I choose? They are all spectacular albums.

Dave Brockis

I know three of these albums(Pet Sounds, American Beauty, A Passion Play) and none are my favourites. So which of them would I like to spend some time with? In the end, I went for American Beauty because it's easy to listen to, but I think that it has depths that Doug could uncover for me. That said, I'd also be happy to give A Passion Play a close listen. Let the hive mind choose.

Sid Levy

Where are my Deadheads? Sugar Mags > Candyman > FOTD > Operator > Ripple > Brokedown Palace.

Bubbalino

I see the Moodies will have to wait their turn. I still voted for them, but I will change it at the end to Queen if pet sounds continues to challenge it.

Barry P

It's time for Doug to hear the peak of Brian Wilson's genius. I also love the Dead and Tull albums, but they are bands he has already reacted to.

Karl Stubsjoen

Why not include Sgt Pepper or Abbey Road? I mean, Brian Wilson wrote / made Pet Sounds after listening to (the US edition ) of Rubber Soul.

Rick Lamoreaux

I admit I'm still holding hope that some day we'll get to JMJ's Oxygene

Alex Libia

I've been waiting so long for Doug to react to A Passion Play. Let's hope it gets over the line. Maybe not the best or most commercially accepted album from their catalogue, but it is in my top 3 JT albums. A very musically dense album, which, I believe was the reason for the criticsm

Richard Moore

A Passion Play -- perhaps Tull's most musically and lyrically adventurous album!

BRIAN MILLER

A Passion Play was released 50 years ago this month. This is the perfect time to listen to it. Please vote for it, friends.

Dave Curran

If you do "A Passion Play", you might want to include the "Chateau d'Isaster Tapes" on "Night Cap". This is the first version of this album that was pretty much abandoned and re-recorded, but has some good stuff in, particularly "Audition/No Rehersal".

Jeannine Doyle

Come on my friends, hearing a Night at the opera in total is a real showcase of the diversity of Queen!

Mark Brennan

DId Dr. Doug do a deep dive on The Prophet Song? (I think he did - wasn't he who went on and on about row-row-row-your-boat?) If he hadn't, I would certainly pick A NIGHT AT THE OPERA. The other albums are all excellent - but I think I would still pick this one because it really deserves a full listen, as Jeannine Doyle noted above, it is "a real showcase of the diversity of Queen," and for that reason, methinks, it is deserving of an EPL. (The same is true of all of these albums, I know, but - I'm sticking my guns here, and will die on this hill, happily ever after!)

Christopher Arters (relative timeworx - Mr.A)

I may be the longest running Queen fan in this community and for me, the first three Queen albums surpass A Night At The Opera, despite its own unique greatness.

Bill Brinkmoeller

Oh, please vote for A Passion Play! Don't you want to see the look on Doug's face when "The Story of the Hare Who Lost His Spectacles" begins? That would be worth the price of my yearly Patreon, I think.

Allen

I'm eager to hear Doug's take on a very eclectic "Night at the Opera" (it's why I voted for it). I think "Passion Play" is structurally similar to "Thick as a Brick" (which he has already examined. . .

Allen

I haven't heard "Passion" in a long while, so I might be mistaken about the technical, musical aspects being similar (key changes, rhythms, etc.). I was immediately thinking of the long, two-part format. I still believe it's a worthy album; however, Queen's album is going to generate more interesting comments. . .

Rolling Ronnie

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds. Part of the back and forth between Brian Wilson and Lennon/McCartney that pushed the boundaries of popular music.
