Oh sweetie I understand, I truly understand 😢 The thing no many people get it's that, sure this is a different place, the rules of her people don't aplique here, but... When you grow up in such place/culture with certain ideas and expectations for so long, it's like Kaede said, you feel like you are doing a betrayal, these things are a part of you so to break it feels like loosing yourself, not in a good way in a "Who I am" way. And in a mess up way those rules, promises, and thoughts give you security, because they tell you what to do, a path, the "correct path", without them you don't know what to do or except, it's an nevermind fear and constant anxiety about the future. I'm all about respecting religion/culture but if that is hurting maybe you have look at them with a critic eye and find a way of honor that part of yourself in a healthy way while still living your life in the way you want.
