I love Landen communicating through their mug.

DevGoat

I should've listened. But poor Flora...

UBE Chief

It's the coffee that's made with semi-digested beans eaten by an animal. Sold for exorbitant prices because the tase is somehow improved by that animal eating and pooping it out. I only found out about it cuz of random videos.

Landen's Cup knows the Secrets

Spillthefire6

Her innards couldn't have handled the power anyway.

Foxboy Jan

Oh man. That Coffee.... It's Just wrong.

Mr Spyro 23

He’s right. Don’t look it up

Tezcat

Ahh. THAT coffee. Gotcha.

Broaster07

I guess the Civet tribe is having a big laugh at the humans expense

GravTempest

It's a specific type of wild cat. I remember the news cast talking about it years ago when a coffee shop was selling it for a huge price. $300 if I remember correctly.

Brad Sampson

i would much rather have single origin from guatemala or brazil, but if i could afford it, i would love a cup of Jamacian Blue Mountain coffee. that stuff is expensive, but is supposed to be the finest coffee in the world, and i've met someone who had it, and they say all other coffee has paled in comparison. perhaps Flora might like a cup of West Basidian Mountain coffee instead of fecal beans...

Avatardragon

I'm loving Flora's outfit here

*everyone who doesn't know immediately searches out the website...* 😼

Anonymous1988

I'm not a coffee drinker, don't know anything about it, so I Googled kopi luwak. I wish I hadn't...

Maine

Tbh, that wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Then again I was just reading some source documents from unit 731 for a thing I'm writing

Ordithus

She is filled with nothing but regret. And caffeine. But mostly regret.

Jay Enfield

There's been a lot of that for a lot of years. As far as I'm aware Tom doesn't have a DNP in place. Possible that he just regards it as free marketing amongst that segment?

Kurtis Ryan

Kopi Luwak is actually quite good.

Wild Space Saga

Nine times out of ten, the stuff they sell as kopi luwak isn't the real deal.

Rook Prime

I already know, and can confirm, it is DEFINITELY forbidden knowledge. Poor Flora.

Xeidler Trayling

Actually don’t, I could guess what they were talking about without the need to google it; and let’s just say it is knowledge that Isn’t for the faint of heart

Dave Ostroske

Laugh if you must. But it's an honest living!

Bingo Goat

aaah, good ol' kopi luwak. humans are indeed weird

Argonwolf

The implications of this change immensely depending on whether there are palm civet keidran or not.

Jackie

I learned about the existence of this particular coffee only yesterday, and now today it's featured in a sketch. Strange world.

KiTA

I remember this from that The Bucket List movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Which was a really good movie, btw.

TheLoreMaker

I have heard of this coffee. I have also heard they abuse the poor animals to get it. Maybe that is what Flora is tasting.

Xavier

I just saw that clip on a YT short yesterday.

Xavier

Tom, write that down!!!!

Xavier

I have had Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Can confirm that it is phenomenal.

DonnaTheShark

For some reason I love seeing the characters in modern clothes. Flora looks good with that top. 💜

Travis9x

I remember reading about that coffee a long time ago... 😰 ...also I want Landen's mug... 😆

Thepizzatree

Ah.. Its "that" coffee.. It's supposed to be really good, but i don't want to try it.

Netari Icefyng

Don't like coffee anyway, but this... okay yeaaah

Glenn Sellers

To say the least. LOL. I ain't eating and/or drinking anything that came out of the south end of a north bound animal.

Onyx Dragon 388

I don’t drink coffee and have no idea what is going on. Would you mind explaining?

MR, ABYSS

I looked it up, they put orange juice in that coffee. Fucking gross concept. But haven't tried it, so I don't know for sure.

eddi_TBH

This ain't normal coffee ma'am. This 110% certified abbynormal coffee.

eddi_TBH

You'll be sorrrrrrry... X X X X X "Kopi luwak, or civet coffee, is coffee that includes part-digested coffee cherries eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet. Fermentation occurs as the cherries pass through a civet's intestines." See Wikipedia for (ulp) pictures.

MR, ABYSS

Ya humans are weird, we eat anything that won't kill us, and things that will kill us. Have you heard of pufferfish?

eddi_TBH

There are probably less..... organic ways to ferment a coffee cherry. But nobody seems to bother.

Auto Spider

What, toxins taste great

wjd1206

At those prices they hire someone to rcover the beans...💩

wjd1206

Love the cartoon! Tom at his best with his character! *HOWEVER* putting aside kiedren physiological differences, caffeine is worse than Crack for canines and felines. One of my dogs had a very close call. He was always trying to steal some coffee from anyone who left their cup within his reach! We almost lost him on vacation once because our friends (staying with us for the week in the cabin) didn't realize how stealthy he was at sneaking a lap or two from their cups. Please be careful.

wjd1206

Don't worry... most of us can't afford that s*@t anyway!😉

wjd1206

🤣🤣

wjd1206

True, but I wouldn't risk it anyway!

wjd1206

What they said!😂

Artemis Vulpes

Oh... I looked it up. Believe it or not, this is a quest in Starfield.

wjd1206

What lump?!

wjd1206

YEAH! NO SH.... oh, nevermInd.

wjd1206

🤯🤯🤯Grosser than that?!

Katfeathers

Alas I had already heard of that. Think I'll still with good ol' classic roast thankie much.

Cha11engerD

Came here to say this. Wonder if this is where this idea came from.

Iago24

I have tried it. It's excellent, but unfortunately most of its producers practice animal abuse, so I can't recommend it any more.

564ugtg54645

The thing is that the process doesn’t even work on industrial scale. The original Kopi Luwak was made by collecting wild civet cat droppings. And why that worked was that the cats were picky eaters and ate only the best coffee berries. Thus acting as natural selector for the best beans.

SCD

Flora: Trippy. Next time I have... coffee... I better add some cream and sugar.

Salodni Ikkis

I know a girl who tried it once. She said it was pretty meh

Modern AU. Likely by that point in such a world's history, cultures would have mixed together so much between the different species that they now have the same decency standards, which happen to include clothes.

Rector Aakor

I see someone's watched bucket list

Al

I bet she had not taste yet. he make her think something taste bad. LOL. maybe he told her about coffee made from bug blood. LOL

HanLan

Bad coffee is crime in my opinion

Mark Temple

i've never had it, but i know several coffee snobs who have and the results were.. mixed. some swear it's the best, some didn't like the taste. guess it depends a lot on what your own coffee preferences are. all of them agreed the flavor is different from most coffee.

Kurtis Ryan

Just remember, India now does the same thing with elephants.

Wendell Hong

When the biggest coffee drinker you know of tells you, "Do Not" best follow his advice.

Jordan Dean Ezekude

Ah, I suspected as much. That explains why too much coffee is bad for the stomach. =(

Jackie

Weirdly enough, I first learned this by reading Freefall.

Muddypaws

Oh…. No! Nonono!! OJ I. Coffee? Well could be from a Palm civet!

wjd1206

Um... I think I'll be happier settling for the beans the civets passed on!

wjd1206

Still weird. Used to the canon.

wjd1206

I thought someone said they can't do it on an industrial scale?! *still* wouldn't drink it!

calikid2451

His mug says that, but he’s probably whispering to flora about how Kopi Luwak coffee is made

Martin Wunsch

Don't follow the "Do not google it" advice.

Mark Temple

i'd imagine that keidran would still tend to wear lighter clothes than humans (cause of the insulating properties of fur), and would probably be more comfortable wearing outfits that cover less of the body.

KaiserDunk

Yeah, that is a bit of turn-off regarding that coffee isn’t it?

Savvyidiot

Morgan freeman's role in The Bucket List can

ElderScrollsMekkan

Thank you Landin for saving Flora the horror u.u; Speaking of, Flora - just dump that cup in the trash and buy a nice cappuccino

voidme457

Already know from Beastars!🤣

J. Martin Laursen

They should offer it at Starbucks. Their customers are used to crappy coffee at exorbiant prices.

Kaija

You don't even realise how right you are. Kopi Luwak absolutely DON'T worth the price and torturing animals to make some. It taste like any normal coffee, nothing really outstanding to justify it method of production. BUT, since tourist LOVE to boast about drinking it and will pay unholy prices for it, they make thrive those kind of business :'D

RivCA

I have not had Jamaica Blue, but prefer kona coffee, Hawaii's big island. What I used to do was cut the coffee with French roast Arabica, about half and half by weight, then grind those up. I find kona is actually too mild to stand on its own for me, but mixing it with French roast allows for it to shine a bit and mute the bitters present from the Arabica. This allowed me to drink the coffee black with little to no issues. Plus, it made the kona stretch more, as I was also trying to be frugal. I still drink my coffee black, but it's not as enjoyable anymore.

Brad Sampson

if you find that coffee is too strong, i recommend putting a thin layer of heavy whipping cream (not creamer, the real stuff) in the bottom, then pouring the coffee on that. it helps to lower the bitterness while keeping the flavor of the coffee. putting the cream on the bottom also means that it self stirs when you pour the coffee in.

voidme457

It is overpriced sugar water and the coffee IS not worth the cost.
