Rose is Euchre's cousin. She got caught by the Templars after she went searching for him, while he was infiltrated in the organization in his human disguise. He abandoned her to be executed, but Saria rescued her and Rose ended up staying with her from there on. As far as we know, the only connecting thread between Trace and Rose was that they both cared for Saria.

Was going to comment that startling somebody mid-stretch can be rather dangerous or painful for them as going from a careful pulling on bodily muscles to force them to relax, to a uncontrolled contractional spasm isn't great for somebody's muscular health.

Maybe you’re right. But think about how wolf pups play—doesn’t the game work better when the stronger one lets the other have a chance to fight back? Also still I like the idea. I’ve finished reading The Wisdom of Wolves by Radinger, and despite my initial concerns based on some of the Amazon reviews, I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. The detailed descriptions of life within a wolf pack and their associated behaviors are insightful, and the parallels drawn to human social life are quite fitting—although I wasn’t always fond of the occasionally moralizing undertone. Thanks again for the recommendation! Since I’m a very analytical and science-oriented person in real life, I’d like to recommend something in return: Beyond Words – What Animals Think and Feel by Carl Safina. He explores similar topics through the lens of orcas, wolves, and elephants.

Then that's next on my rather long reading list! I'm happy you enjoyed it, and I agree, at my age I already have my morals somewhat set and Miss Radinger's moralizing was a bit unnecessary at times, especially since I'm already aware of the precarious situation we find ourselves in concerning the natural environment. As for Sariah and Rose, I can't imagine Rose sneak attacking Sariah with more than a surprise lick across the cheek and neck!
