This is very adorable and a nice way to kick off the fall spirits! :)

Thus whisk away and never waver, Of breaking wind and gentle breeze. Breathe it in the closing Summer, To dawn the prelude of season's Winter.

Bingo Goat

...you forgot her tail

Kanohi Horder

Karen looks so happy and wholesome here this is the most lively she has looked in a while! Such pure Wonder In those eyes

Kanohi Horder

No I just suggested him to not include it

Kanohi Horder

He didn't I just suggested her to not have it here

Roarschach

The way you used very light coloration in this piece is great; it elevates the sketch without going through all of the work of full coloring.

Tiglish

shuch a relax to see leaves fall

Bingo Goat

ah, so *you* forgot her tail =,

Isenlyn

Karen channeling her inner cat. After hours running around doing mischief, she collapsed under a tree then slept for 14 hours.

Timmainsson

The lack does make it feel incomplete

Kanohi Horder

Well she didn't start off with a tail she didn't have one for a while, sure the tail could give her a little bit more expression but at the same time, it makes her blend in too much to just looking like a another Neko girl, which I think Karen is far above that

Clover Kismet

Ooh! One of my new favorites! :3

TheLoreMaker

Karen is lucky to live in a place that gets fall. I sure don't. (Texas)

Stephen Gilberg

I want to massage her ears. For clean reasons.

Oswald

lovely

Karen is such an undeserved character!

Halo Hybrid

Such a nice and chill composition. The faint hint of her green hair really draws attention to me. I’m sure if this was colored it would contrast well warm tones. She looks well at peace and comfy. Very different from her active nature.!

SCD

She's waiting for the Great Pumpkin.

Hunter_emerald07

Hell yeah after so long finally meet some art for karen again but Karen now enjoy the field of leaves fr

Iago24

She didn't originally have one. Guess this one is from when she didn't get it yet.

To me, the phrase ‘undeserved character’ carries only negative connotations — perhaps closest to ‘a questionable character.’ Is that really what you mean here, or am I misunderstanding the expression? I see Karen as someone who takes things lightly on the surface and manages to find a positive side even in negative experiences (tail and ears). Yet when it truly matters, she stands by her friends (like Maddy). I actually find her more likeable and positive as a person than negative …

Kanohi Horder

Yes, finally that under stands the character,Karen is an optimist, and has a lot more death to her than a lot of people get credit for and I sort of see us the true heart of two kinds, there are other characters in the comic that are a bit more difficult to work with

wjd1206

Actually @Joshu, I was referring to the fact that she doesn't get much attention in canon storyline. I think she should, because as @kanohi pointed out, she's an optimistic character with a good heart who seems to try to help but often gets swept aside as 'too young'.

Drazgon

Then @wjd you might have meant 'underrated', hmm?

Mr. Stargate

Better make like a tree and get out of here!

wjd1206

I suppose you could use that term, but that seems to imply that the reader undrestimates her as a character as opposed to the character not getting the use in canon from te author. Of course, we don't know how Tom intended Karen's role, so that is as may be. In other words, we'd like see more of her.

feralcat52

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect what was meant was that Karen is an "under-represented" character, that she doesn't have a lot of involvement in the main storylines, something like that?

Drazgon

I also didn't understand what you meant with the word 'undeserved', but whatever, now it's clear what you meant. I think it's a sign of a good story, when every character is a person, has some complexity, feelings, goals etc. It's a good story when you write a character before its role - sidekick, comic relief, chaotic trickster, love interest of the main guy... But that good story just can not focus on every character personally, it follows the main ones. And others they encounter, not being just a cardboard cutout, show brief signs of their character, complexity. Only to never being explored deeper at all. And that's good.

Drazgon

@Joshu @Kahobi I don't think we should give credit to Karen for enduring a lot of grief in her life. I think she is genuinely doesn't care, not endures pain and puts on a façade. I have an indistinct memory of one scene when Karen seriously talks about death or pain, but I couldn't dig it up, so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. I remember only the scene where she worries about injured Maren, but that's normal, it doesn't picture her as a... 'bruised' person.

Joshu Kel'Machan

@Drazgon: Maybe you’re thinking of the scene where Karen reacts quite startled to the statement that members of Team B could have died during the fox assassin’s attack? And regarding good storytelling—I agree with you on that. @All: Apart from that, it seems we all share a fairly similar perspective on Karen. “Underrepresented” would probably have been the more accurate word in the first posting.

Sernard

I love autism!

Cafe Krieg

Honestly think it makes her standout more and fits her character better. To each their own though.
