When she was first introduced, someone said that young dragons will often disguise themselves as small animals. Sythe asked Nibbly directly if she was actually a dragon; she evaded the question. She was also terrified by Reni when they first met, maybe because Reni’s an older dragon?

In chapter 21 and page 1141 we see a shadow of mrs nibbly lpokimg like a small dragon. And because dragons can shapeshif she could be a dragon.

It wasn't official confirmation but when Clovis' goon, Romulus and Remus attacked Trace's estate, Nibbly raced up the stairs and later, we see a Nibbly sized shadow on the wall only it didn't look like Nibbly. Whatever it was, it scared one of the twins bad enough that he fell to his death.

Perhaps Nibbly realized Reni isn't aware what she really is, so she can relax and have some fun with the Dragon Princess. However, I don't think Nibbly could get away with that with Nora, who is a mature, more powerful, and perceptive dragon.

One friend noted the silhouette of her true form is closer to an Asian Dragon. Especially no wings. So she is unique.

I believe that nibs is a fey creature because after the fight with rom and in the reflection on the waterfall in the pool room nibs shows up as a shadowy figure similar to Detritus. But that's just a theory. (Pages 1076 and 1141)
