funny enough Squirrels are actually semi-omnivorous. they do eat insects regularly and will eat smaller mammals

Too late for that. Squirrels in Asia are already becoming carnivorous, that they will swarm a dog an eat it alive for protein. BTW, Mrs. Nibbly is very happy about the date with steaks.

Quite a lot of herbivores will consume meat, especially if they're deficient in certain nutrients or there's a scarcity of regular food. Same reason why many carnivores will sometimes consume plants. Herbivore/Carnivore isn't truly a sharp distinction, it's a survival advantage to have some flexibility in your diet.

This is very amusing! Though as others have pointed out, squirrels will in fact eat meat if they can, just like deer! All in all, I love their expressions and how the meat gets torn, it's silly

Fun fact, most animals aren't 100% herbivores, and some, like rodents eat bugs as well as other small animals, when food quality is low, even cows are known to eat snakes, it's called being an "opportunistic carnivore", so Nibbly will be fine... just make sure she doesn't get a taste for the meat...

If I remember it's that they're adapting active hunting habits for smaller rodents and birds. Fascinating stuff! Also, Nibbly has now learned to stalk and eat cows. Let's hope she doesn't share this behavior with her fellows! I've heard a pack of squirrels can reduce a cow to a skeleton in just a few minutes!

Campus squirrels DO NOT CARE what you're eating, they will absolutely mug you for your lunch and stare at you disdainfully as they eat it. Hot dogs seemed to be a favorite when I was at the UofM, probably because there was always a vendor working the quad.

There are the two factions Keidren, feline and canine. For more information you can view sketches in the fan gallery. Though, it does seem other kinds of keidran can exist due to magic, such as Mrs. Nibbly becoming a squirrel keidran here.

You know, so many people are surprised when they find that, what they primarily think of as herbivores are actually herbivores with omnivorious tendencies. Until you've seen a horse or deer snag a bird off of a fence post, and chow down on it, you really don't know what advantage omnivores really are... (And yes, there are quite a few carnivors that occasionally enjoy vegetables. But don't give cats potatoes or onions... The gas they pass... nauseating....)

"Herbivores" will eat meat if they can get any that isn't rotted, but they normally don't hunt/kill animals in order to eat them.

I think that Karen cooked it herself. Karen (and Maren) used to run an inn, so being decent cooks would be part of that vocation.
