There was a non-canon sketch that Tom drew after first releasing this comic where we see Nibbs thinking "I knew exactly what I was doing the whole time, bwahahaha!" Or something to that effect. :)

I *totally* agree with @Gwen Fateburn! I've long suspected that Nibs is some kind of shapeshifter, with a young dragon being the the most likely to me. Her not being used to speaking wouldn't be surprising. A humanoid form would allow her to attempt some thing she understands, but hasn't been able to do physically. 😉😉😉😂😂

For some reasons like observing how some people tend to stay single, some falling for AI, some dream of future with robots... I believe that some people wouldn't mind living with a human with a mind of animal as their mate. Intelligent domesticated animal like a cat or a dog I mean. Well, it's already ok to feel love and affection for an animal, some people (usually traumatized) already say they love cats/dogs more than people. And giving an animal a human body adds, fixes a sexual aspect. I mean, if you argue you need an actual person with complex thoughts, goals, ambitions to get a hard on, I would agree in general, but also slide some sexist joke about intellect level of a certain type of women, quite popular on a date market.
