'Keiren' is filming the tavern scene with 'Adira' but not used to keidran in the fur, suggested by Abstract Indigo! Based on Page #1260 where he blushes.

Thrilled this got picked — huge thanks to everyone who voted, and massive thanks to Tom for bringing it to life so vividly. I thought this might be a nightmare to colour with how complex the original sketch was, but the green screen elements really sell the backstage AU set feel, avoid comic confusion, and keep it manageable (especially the internal tavern shot facing the entrance). Very smart choices. Hope to contribute more to the Backstage AU in the future — it's such a fun concept. Thanks again all! (No rambling this time, promise!)

Directly? No, completely separate idea. When specifying a reaction for Vanity the snorty laugh came to mind, the prompt for Tom directly referenced it from her doodles/ref sheet. Literally "'Vanity' watching can't wait (goofy laugh from doodles)". But it also doubles as a good "explanation" so it's kinda two for one.

Well, if you look at pages where they were in cities, (like at the beginning of the series) all of the enslaved keidran are all wearing clothing (or more so rags) rather than them being "in the fur" as adira calls it

I ENVY Keiren's actor.... ENVY!!! I would do just about anything to be near Adira like that. For me... she is the most beautiful lady of the series with Dahlia, Kat, Flora, and Vanity right behind her in THAT order. Raine, Nat, Maren, and Adelaide are close behind. Course, Maeve is in her own category. She's too damn adorable! Just helps that she's the daughter of my goddess. 10/10 would adopt.

It's actually really clever work by Tom. Outside the meta it sells the backstage filming theme. If it was a full on redraw from the comic, it could be visually confused at a quick glance, especially on the smaller thumbnails. In universe it's almost certainly how a real set would be constructed to save a load of money, and allow exteriors / VFX to be done in post. But still enough for the actors to base their performance off.

In my mind, in the "modern" setting, things have gotten a little more reserved. Keidran in cities who have to deal with humans on a day-to-day are more used to wearing clothes in public, so it's much rarer to see one out of them. In the countryside, Keidran still live as they used to, with no sense of modesty. Those from the cities get some whiplash if they've never been out among Keidran in more rural or casual settings.

Also Tom giving 'real' names would be foolish and cause endless confusion. All for something completely irrelevant, unless it was something like a name change gag or Trace's actor literally being called Trace. He would be confusing the branding of his own work to answer a meaningless question.

My question remains: Does Backstage Vanity retain her magical mask form-shifting abilities? Or is Adira's actress going to be "doing her own stunts" as it were? Also, hi Dave! Glad to see you got out of Accounting (and Spycraft) and found your new calling as Head of Makeup.

The whole intent of the prompt was to deliberately blur the line between Vanity and her actress by having them be essentially the same personality. But gonna go out on a limb here and suggest the casting call did not demand a soul-stealing shapeshifter, if normal magic even exists in the backstage AU. Vanity's actress is just an actress. And the whole point of the gag was to explicitly split Vanity-as-Adira -> Adira's actress, and Vanity -> Vanity's actress to allow them both to tease Keiren's actor, which would be impossible in canon. Vanity's actress being a soul-stealing shapeshifter would undermine the entire point of the gag to begin with. And raise some extremely serious ethical concerns about the TwoKinds TV show production...

Ah, right! Gotcha. Glad my guess was right. Also speaks a lot to "Adira"'s versatility as an actress that she can so convincingly play not just her normal role but a very flirty fake version of her normal role. Also, I mentioned this in a couple hints about her, but I still wonder if Vanity has a bit of the Nagatoro quirk of using loud goofy laughter to try and mask how embarrassing her more revealing scenes actually are for her. Like, trying to laugh it off like it's no big deal when she's actually dying inside. No word on Dave either. He's a good lad with a range of talents. I hear he makes a mean spice cake too :P

Dave was Tom's interpretation so you'd have to ask him not me! One gag I want to explore at some point is the fact that Adira's actress would have played technically 3 characters (Adira, Vanity, Keiren) and use this for a prompt. Really playing into the meta humour that only works in this format.
