It's hard for Keiren to walk on Keidran paws in Adira's body, suggested by Юрий Котлов!

Absolutely in LOVE with all of this! Him transforming and now having to deal with this is such a fascinating experience :D

WOLFRAM

Traitorous beans

RemyHindle

No, no, she's on to something, Kei. It can definitely help with getting lighter and can get you some attention lol :)

Anonymous1988

Adira: "Well, I guess you could try running on all fours..." Keiren: "That might actually be easier. Thanks for the advice!" Adira: "I WAS JOKING!!! Of all the minds to be trapped in, why did it have to be yours?!?"

Kai Solarie

I hadn't thought of this, but it makes perfect sense. Even walking on "Tippy Toes" is a lot different than taking normal human steps. Can only imagine what he's dealing with having switched to feline feet.

Michael Marcoccio

Now I have the song’Walk Like an Egyptian’ playing in my head with Keidran replacing Egyptian…

Kyle

Like walking I heels but without the footwear

Feligris

There's a good reason why he was hoping to get to ride back home, except his horse was borrowed. :p When this arc was ending it made me think that he's going to be pretty much spent by the time he gets back to Edinmire proper, having had to deal with weird Keidran legs and weird Keidran urges and Adira in the back of his mind the whole way.

J. N. Squire

You're overheating Keiren, and it's making you dizzy… Come on, ditch them 😇 Also, we definitely should get this one colored folks

cee

Later news: He (they?) later bump (literally) into Reni & end up in an embarassingly compromised heap together...

Vicroc4

Oh boy, he's having a time of it.

Feligris

Especially because he's still a human, and none other than the captain of the guard in the *human* town of Edinmire as well - so while he has been brushing up his attitude towards the Keidran after having betrayed Flora pretty miserably in the past, becoming one is clearly not an experience he was looking forward to and which he is still fighting even if he's taking it surprisingly well in a "I guess this is my life now until we find Reni". Though I guess it might be the shock making him revert to his dutiful nature as distraction...

Stephen Gilberg

I was expecting the Keidran version of a sphinx.

Halo Hybrid

My mind’s tellin’ noOooooOoooo~~~ But my Pawbs, My Pawbs are tellin’ me YeEeeAaaah~~~

ACatDragon

This is one that def needs to be colored :D

Astralika

Godddds I love them, I love the mask turning her into a headmate, I love the magic TF stuff so much aaa

Linxan

It's particularly interesting to note the contrast between Keiren's experience now vs. what others have experienced with the magical transformation collar and such. The magic in Vanity's masks clearly works differently than the magic in the collar of keidranization — because (unless it all happened entirely off-screen) neither Lt. Reed nor Mrs. Nibbly had much trouble adjusting to just walking around in keidran form. I suspect the collar was essentially made to put the wearer in a fully-functional keidran form. A collar-wearer actually becomes, for all intents and purposes, a real, generic keidran, with just a certain set of its physical attributes derived from those of the collar-wearer's natural form. The body itself is a real keidran body with all the expected keidran reflexes, muscle memory, autonomic processes, etc. The collar-wearer may have to adjust to having a different body with different abilities, but the body already knows how to be a fully-formed keidran body. On the other hand, I suspect that Vanity's masks, aren't a complete transformation, but only a disguise, an illusion. The wearer's actual physical attributes don't change, but the mask projects an illusion over the wearer's body (and only their body, hence the armor remaining unchanged) that looks and sounds like someone else, but also constrains the mask-wearer's body inside the shape of the illusion. This means that Keiren looks and sounds like a keidran (and like Adira, specifically), but is actually still in his human body inside that illusion. His body is contorted into Adira's shape, including being forced to walk digitigrade-style (on the toes) on his very human, plantigrade feet. This allows the mask-wearer to retain precisely all the skills and reflexes of their own body rather than learning the parameters of a new one. The disguise masks are thus better-suited to short-term — or short-notice — usage than the collars, as the wearer can expect their abilities to be exactly the same while in disguise as they are out of disguise. If the shape the disguise imposes on them would hamper those abilities, they can train in advance to work around that. So both the transformation collar and the disguise mask are very useful for different purposes. Of course, given the limitations of the mask, I imagine it is probably also less expensive to produce than the collar, and therefore more affordable for someone whose resources are more limited than those of the Grand Templar.

Me: "Swipper, ditch the armour! Swipper, ditch the armour! Swipper, ditch the armour!" Swipper: "Oh man!" *proceeds to remove the armour.

SCD

Keiren: Screw this, I'm gonna get one of those mini scooters! Adira: ......

Max Florschutz

Hahahaha! Ah, the "joys" of finding yourself in a new form without the required experience or habits to make it convenient! Reminds me of a line from the second Axtara book about whether or not moving a tail is done by shaking the butt.

Max Florschutz

He should have spent more time walking and running barefoot. Then he'd have less trouble with it! (If you're not aware, barefoot runners will run on the ball of the foot, using the ankle like a spring. Humans don't run "heel-toe" unless they're wearing shoes. Freakonomics has a whole episode about feet and shoes that talks about it.) In other words, someone who ran barefoot or walked barefoot a lot who was turned into a keidran would have a lot easier time adjusting to their feet.

Gerald Potts

Ugh, back-seat dri.....walker.

Glenn Sellers

Hmm. That's a good question. Off hand, I'd say, no since the tail has muscles attached to the pelvis and the tail can wag while the butt stays still.

Max Florschutz

In the story it's resolved by the character stuck in human form trying to move the tail they no longer have and noting that their butt does not move, cementing to the character in her old form (dragon) that it's not those muscles.

Drazgon

Adira's being very patient. As she should. I guess this scene takes place down the road AFTER Adira got tired from thanking Kei for protecting Maeve and risking his life to save Adira

Isenlyn

It's exactly the same as tippy toes !! ^^

That tail will become a great traitor to Kei som day 🤣

Isenlyn

First, deal with being a cat. Then deal with being a woman. ^^

wjd1206

But it *is* the same as tippy toes (at least physiologically)! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

AstroChaos

If they move too quick (Oh-way-oh) They're falling down like a domino

wjd1206

Somehow I don't think so... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Raventail

It's gonna be a real experience when he (they) need to empty his (their) bladder. :D

wjd1206

Wow! ...just... Wow! 😉😉🤣🤣🤣

Rae Snowfurr

Adira:Great So now I have to be a mother to the captain.....

Jem

C'mon, Kei. Losing your pants should have been a clear message. You're too floofy and pretty for that stuffy armor anymore. ;)

Thisguy

Could you imagine the sitcom? Reed and Keiren (in Adira’s body with Adira stuck in his head) living together trying to raise Maeve.

Thisguy

Yes, I did think the tail should help… But I guess if he’s going to fight it… Probably like me fighting against all the automatic stuff in my car…

Patrick Horton

I love how her Mother side and her Snarky Tavernkeep side are on full display here.

Lomond

Now I’ve got that tune stuck in my head, thanks a lot!! 😉🤣

JIngle

Looking forward to seeing more of these "two"

Muddypaws

Oh don’t worry…, fur hides all, or at least 90%.

JeKeBe

Yeah, waiting for the inevitable trouble that arises when someone sees a flea-bitten Keidran stumbling around in (obviously stolen) guard armor. Getting to Reni, and getting Reni to BELIEVE this nonsense, is going to be quite the comedy of errors.

Feligris

Same! Though I presume it'll be a while before their (and Vanity's) story arc will continue, but given how Reni is quite unskilled and had her mana stolen while Trace is planning on leaving the estate soon, it could end up with them having to bargain/plead with Vanity which could lead to all kinds of shenanigans. c:

Drazgon

Reni can read minds and not obnoxious enough to turn them without it. So it will be quick. "Princess Reni! I have something important to report! Quick, read my mind!"

Thy Peanut

It's like walking on your tip toes, but what was the rest of your foot (now can't be used for the same purpose) is a good bit longer, it would probably be the higher ankle placement that would be weirder and unnatural to kerien, plus the shape of what were the toes and very top of the foot is also drastically altered.

Crimson Dragon

As someone who prefers walking like a keidran, I can confirm that it takes a bit of practice to get used to.

MrWho

Walk Like a Keidran, by the Bangle wraps. 🤣

Lance Zimmerman

This is hilarious! It is more the feet, than the legs.

Xavier

Lol same

Lorventus

Still hoping that when they get separated it leaves an interesting mental mark! (Preferably physical though....)

JeKeBe

Gotta remember that we've been shown a base level of discrimination against Keidran from a lot of people (including guards), and that's just your average furball walking around the streets much less one who's armed and armored. Add to that the uproar that's surely in progress after the very recent jailbreak facilitated by Vanity and people are going to be on a hairball trigger. Even approaching their Princess draggie is likely to be quite the hurdle, and the law of comedic misunderstanding pretty much demands that even if they DO manage to sneak in Reni would probably take off to see to something else or be wary of this armored Keidran and they'd end up unable to communicate with her before getting dogpiled and dragged off.

Jasper

Lucky bastard

Raven Jaxson

Can't wait to see more of this plot. Hilarity will ensue I'm sure.
