She's a very young dragon, where Nora is a very old dragon. Dragons grow progressively more powerful as they age, so Reni's abilities are presumably much more limited.

And considering she's under the influence of the magic mistletoe, this may not have crossed her mind. EDIT: Sorry, just occured to me he didn't actually say it was the magic mistletoe. However, based on the blue aura of the mistletoe and the very shocked expression on even Reni's face, I'm assuming it is. :)
