Alex Fenn

Absolutely adorably cute Vanity is definitely a top favorite of mine!!

Daemon Blitzkrieg

Vanity at her most evil, must have ALL ze candies ~

Jonathan Wood

I mean nobody else is using them today…

deffinitelynobody

Love Vanity, can't wait for her to get more screen time in the comic.

Bluehairedshepsky

Give her treats or she'll trick you by taking your face

Wingmander

"We are a themed group."

AlaricLives87

I’d love to see Vanity go knocking on the old Myers house in Haddonfield and we’ll see who’s more terrifying!

REDemon14

Just *slightly* manic

Hazard Grin

She stole a minimum of six children's faces for free candy.

A light

Wait I'm new so vanity way to steal their face is turn them into mask right?

RemyHindle

Seem normal to me but why does she seems so familiar?

wjd1206

NOT! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

wjd1206

No! I hopesheatleast knows how to release them! I mean, she should... but after all this does she remember; let alone care?! 🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔🤔

Metally Sane

I still wonder about how to turn those, whose faces she stole, back to normal 🤔. Maybe I missed something, or it is not yet revealed in the comic.

Michael Marcoccio

Apparently Vanity believes in getting an early start, both in magical chicanery and in Halloween candy…

Anonymous1988

Fifth or sixth, huh? I'm sure it'll be in the triple digits by the end of the night.

t3hOgre

I’d do that too. Those are snack size not bite size treats.

Nerflo

Granny must give out the good stuff

Louis Richards

Umm... somebody up the street is handing out these cute bows. Umm...Yeah. That's why.

Abstract Indigo

Such a silly gag! And also funny that by the established rules Vanity would actually be using illusion magic here like she does in the comic flashback (same red eyes!) and so she actually didn't steal anyone's face at all!

Iago24

It's easy to be adorable when you steal adorable children's faces...

Golden_Pawz

I absolutely love Vanity. She can trap my mind anytime

coredumperror

It's a good thing these sketches are non-canon, given that we know what Vanity *does* to people in order to steal their faces like this.

Max Florschutz

LOL when a shapeshifter goes Trick-or-Treating ...

Wyatt Banfield

My father used to apparently get multiple pillowcases and multiple costumes on individual Halloweens to hit the same house in this manner so this post resonates with me

Wyatt Banfield

Wouldn't that technically be page time instead 🤔 I'll see myself out lol

Legeden

what a loophole

Camden Weck

How many masks does she have?

Abstract Indigo

Illusion does fit here! But yeah, a lot of people seem to forget it's not canon unless Tom says otherwise - and it's a user-submitted gag!

Dante mo.

sounds kinda creepy when you say it out loud. 😬

Aaron Peterson

A mask of every kid in the neighborhood.

AlaricLives87

Loomis: Don’t go near it! It’s purely and simple evil! Vanity: *blushes* Who? Me?

Kaija

Okay, so, Vanity really always wear that creepy smile :'D

Onefoursix Tym

Also the fifth or six child with the same crazy eyes!

SuperTaster

"For halloween I'm going as YOU!"

Halo Hybrid

Vanity is exploiting the system!!!! I would be mad but she’s just so adorable honestly~ 🥰

Rae Snowfurr

never knew a fox that was into sweets.

MrWho

I wounder how she does it....

Lord Chaos

I hope she gets cavities.

JIngle

If you're not cheating you're not trying, more disappointed that the guy isn't handing out full sized snacks

Wild Space Saga

Vanity is the Keidran equivalent of a skinwalker.

Louis Richards

Traditionally foxes like sweets. Even from the time of Aesop it was known that foxes don't like sour grapes.

Shatari Ishatar

That's as many as three twos. And that's terrible.

SCD

This is why Halloween is Vanity's favorite holiday.

what comic flashback, what illusion magic?

Abstract Indigo

From what the comic shows, illusion and dragon shapeshifting magic have clear limits: one can't change appearance arbitrarily. If this was possible, masks would be essentially pointless. Flashback Vanity in #1268 is almost certainly under a snow leopard illusion due to red hair/eyes, similar to Carver's #984 illusion - which Raine canonically confirms is illusion magic - where he looks like "Carver if he were a human" not some random human. Snow leopards are super rare, and picking one who also had red hair/eyes (if they even exist, probably not!) would be stupid. Vanity also notes she enjoyed behind a snow leopard on #1266, which doesn't make sense if she was one previously. So this basically leaves: Illusion magic - can be dispelled, can only change appearance in certain ways. Masks - you actually transform into someone's form (like Raine/Euchre's shifting). But to create them you have to capture someone's soul, at least for the initial creation (as per Tom's recent lore drops). For magic like Adira's Riftwall which specifically responds to Adira only, the mask, however it exactly works - presumably at the soul level it makes Vanity look like Adira - means the Riftwall sees Vanity as Adira, which allows her to alter it.

Drazgon

Sounds reasonable. That that snow leopard with red hairs and eyes might be an illusion, because it's rear/impossible. I doubt though Tom sees it like this. I think he adds details like dragon horns on a cat, or red eyes there just for a reader to distinguish. Times he didn't, like with Vanity as Adira, it was to conceal and make a reader guess. So I think any time Tom draws Vanity in other shape, he means masks. And I categorically disagree that they are limits for dragon shapeshifting or illusion spell, it can change arbitrarily. Both lady Nora and Carver just chose to look like this, feel more like themselves, or just don't bother to change some details, less work. p.s. btw unlike you I don't get notifications when you reply, unless you like my reply.

Drazgon

Oh, why I was writing, you already had edited your previous reply...

feralcat52

Vanity strikes again!

Aaron Peterson

If he wasn't handing out Fun Sized Candy Bars, she wouldn't be playing him like this!

Aaron Peterson

Technically, we're watching her on pages on a screen. So it's both!

ClocksCoyote

I do wonder what vanity looks like if all the masks were forced off. I almost expect the real her to be human.

Abstract Indigo

Nothing in the story makes any real sense if the answer is anything other than: the vixen we see. Also she could just take the mask off during interrogation and blast Keiren since she'd have access to magic. It's also undermining Tom's branding if he repeatedly sells Vanity = vixen... but nah, she's really human. Tom's recent lore says a bunch of stuff, and what it also keeps saying is: fox.

Fluffer

This implies she turned multiple children into masks for the purpose of getting candy

ClocksCoyote

I mean Tom did a peice back before showing her inner fear because even she no longer knows what's at the bottom. That implies that the fox is not the bottom of the mask stack. The point i was making about the real her being human was more metaphorical than anything. I was basically saying "Something we wouldn't expect at all".

Abstract Indigo

I read that one piece as metaphorical rather than literal - someone who doesn't know her own personality and thinks there's nothing there that's really her. From what's been mentioned of her history and how masks work, I don't think there's a mask to remove (now), in that sense and that base Vanity = the fox we see. Masks and souls are essentially synonymous. I suspect if one wears a mask long enough they're permanently transformed and there is no mask to remove once a soul is overwritten. I could be wrong though!

Juan Andrés Alcalá

I don’t think she’ll mind... Most likely, after this, they’ll just end up in her collection.

Juan Andrés Alcalá

Indeed, very wicked, if you ask me. And as far as we know, she likes collecting them.

wjd1206

Yeah... That's what I'm afraid of! Poor kids! 😪😪😪
