Okay -- is Natani trans, or not?? In the comic, Nat insists that he's a "he" and it has nothing to do with how his body looks, but then you keep drawing pictures sexualising his female body. It completely undermines his character and feels really, really gross! I was really excited about Natani's character because I'm a trans guy, and I don't get to see that kind of representation in fantasy comics, but this keeps happening, and I can't stay quiet about it.

Yeah, then in the scenes where the shackle interrupts the mind link, Nat has this big inner dialogue with his/her/their younger self, and realises that those feelings were always there and Zen was just a convenient excuse.

I would be totally fine with it if Natani realised that they were a woman all along, detransition is a thing that happens, it's just another part of figuring yourself out -- but at the moment, in canon, Nat is a man with a female body, and this constant feminine sexualisation is like a dogshit bullet in both kneecaps for someone who can actually identify with this character. If the sexualisation were masculine, that would be awesome. Give me a mens'-pinup style sexy Nat any day of the week, I'm there.

yeah, natani literally had her soul shattered and pieced back together with her brother's help. so that and the mental link they've had for so long has caused her a LOT of mental confusion.

Okay. Since the incident that bound 'his' soul with Zen's Natani has always thought oh himself as a male due to the effect having his soul mixed in with Zen's. This feeling was then cultivated over many years up until recently when they (Nat & Zen) had their link temporarily dampened to the point that Natani was left in a coma, where he had a 'coming of age' with his long dormant female side and is now looking more comfortable with showing off his more feminine assets. At least just with Keith. But in any case one should take all of these sketches as non-canon and just enjoy them for what they are. Fan service.

Natani is absolutely a trans character. People interpreting the memory or his younger self saying "acting feminine sometimes does NOT invalidate your identity, also you felt comfortable acting male even before the soul link" as proof that he's not is fucking insane. Please correct me if im wrong. im from idaho so im a little ignorant of the more liberal side of the world. But trans man would imply you identify as a man act like a man, to whatever extent you want, and tamp down/ simply dont have the feminine urges you may have. With this understanding natani would not be a trans man as he/she is appearing to want to regain his/her feminity. Mind/soul mess aside so to summarize trans man: woman transferring to man. whereas natani appears to be mentally more man transferring to woman after dealing with his/her insecurities.

I just enjoy Natani for being a tough goofy character with an identity crisis. Personally, I'm not on board with the whole 'trans' thing as some of you guys are. Does it matter? It really shouldn't. You have what you like. Not everyone has to agree or even like what you do. The same for the flip side. Chill people. Have some tea, eat some cookies. Relax.

Honestly, in this specific situation, yes, Natani's body may be being sexualized, by Natani just having them hang out in the open. But at the same time, that's a fairly masculine thing to do. A guy generally does not care if their chest is out and is just relaxing without giving a damn, just as Natani is doing in this instance. So which ever side of this argument you fall on, Natani is acting like a typical dude in this instance.

These kind of images are meant to be awkward and fun, and how Natani is revealing them self to Kieth might just be their way of teasing. -Michel Gerner, don’t look too deeply at Natani’s character. Tom seems to like playing with his characters, and I would say that anything that makes Kieth uncomfortable is really just meant to be funny. So please, take no offense

I thought the whole point of the mental coma storyline was Natani realizing that he can still be male without feeling immense shame and distress whenever someone sees his female body. I mean, shortly afterward, one of the first thing he says to Keith while they're alone is 'Wanna touch 'em?' Now, if he started acting dainty and mentally feminine, that would be a betrayal of the character. But just like a trans person doesn't have to get surgery in order to be officially recognized as trans, Natani doesn't have to hide her 'assets' to be recognized as male.

the only reason natani is questioning her own sexuality so much, is because of her mind meld-thing with her brother. while originally natani was a tomboy, i doubt, that had the meld never occured that she would be like this. Natani, or at least the part of her mind that is left is 100% female, she got the rest from her brother. and as it appears, she can live without the link, and while her brothers mind has left a big imprint on hers, she is blatantly overcoming it, and becoming more open with her true sexuality. tldr: nats only bi cause of her brother, but that's disappearing, and she is straight.

Sorry Vol, but I have to call you out on this. Natani was born a female, is a female, and only ever thought she was a guy do to a magic accident making her link her mind to her brothers to survive. Any thing about her feeling like a guy can be blamed directly on her brother and how they view Natani, not how they view themselves. Natani's "Character development" as you call it, was the base affliction set up for her. Her becoming more able to function on her own with her own mind and come to terms with her being what she is, a girl, IS the character development. Stop thinking she's trans, because she's not. Trans People don't work this way, stop trying to make her one.

No body is interpreting her MIND SET telling her that being Feminine is ok as anything like that. You need to stop Interpreting "Mind was half destroyed by magic, had to fill in parts from their brother, Personality was deeply effected from it " as "Natani is Trans" and instead as "Natani's mind got Damaged due to magic and seems to of finally healed enough to be on her own now and be HER OWN now."

Anyway, if I had to agree with anyone 100% from this thread it would be Menke, with how it seemed like that whole inner-mind sequence with young Nat did more to help Natani stop feeling shame with having a female body rather than to be like "Hey guess what, Natani? You aren't male at all." Like seriously go read that arc again, Joshua, because I'm not convinced you actually ever did. Also @John Hinton, sexuality and gender aren't the same thing.
