Theoretically either as long as a human, or somewhere midway. What I hope is the former. The reason… Fetuses have a symbiotic biology with the mother. For example if the mother suffers an injury, the fetus can adjust in a way that it provides the mother with cells that can help make repairs. This means that a mother can, and likely does, have cells from their children in their body, years down the road, if not for the remainder of their lives. My Head-Canon is that a Human/Basitin and Keidran Hybrid fetus might be able to rewire the aging process for the mother, extending her life. Good news for female Keidran in a relationship with a Human or Basitin, she lives longer, Bad news for the male Keidran, and females not in said relationship, no such symbiosis. But, if Legacy Life Extension Inc.® (in this AU) does some research involving the Mothers of Hybrid Lovechildren, I’m sure that they can discover the life extending agent and produce a hormone or other therapy to extend the life of all Keidran.

And can all keidran regardless of the subtypes they are as we know there are a bunch also have offspring together resulting in very mixed children? canonically.

Also… Nora, the kink she is, Married Clovis, who while still a dominant control freak like in the normal canon, never sold his parents into slavery (assuming <a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/what-turned-evil-16960436">that sketch </a> to be canon that is.), cared for them as they grew old, didn’t attempt to exploit a certain Red-Haired-Guy’s girlfriend (Maren) when she got her soul ripped in half by an evil female Templar (the Templar are generally good in this AU) resulting in the need for a “genderconfusing” mind-meld, and never got Genderbent because he wasn’t sexist. (Genderbending does occur on occasion when the dungeon is involved. Oh! Did I say dungeon? I meant bedroom.)

What a beautiful picture! I love the clean line work and the expressions on everyone! It's nice to see this alternate universe take on what could have been had Keith and Laura stayed together. I always did like her design. Hopefully in the future we can get more AU sketches or glimpses of things to come, it's always such a joy to see new artwork.

To help answer your questions (replies/comments by Tom are usually few and far between), <b>First</b>: towards the beginning of the comic, chapter 4 or 5 I believe, when Trace and Flora retreated to the inn, Sirus, in disguise as the Tavernkeeper, offered to cell-up Flora with “his” breeding Keidran with the implied intent (his real goal as far as can be seen was getting Trace and Flora to, well, “Have fun”) being to inseminate her. When this offer was extended, only one of the 5 or so Keidran depicted was a tiger. On a related note, Kathrin is the product of breeding, with the intent to “manufacture” a perfect sex slave, Feline and Canid Keidran (her parents were, in turn, also selectively bred for the same purpose), but she is infertile as a result of the extremely diverse heritage. (Bad analogy coming up) This would be akin to having a white person (who’s ancestry was deliberately picked to include people from every country on one half of the world) having a child with a person of color (who’s ancestry in turn was deliberately engineered from all the countries on the other half of the globe), but resulting in the child having a mix of all the country’s traits, but being infertile. As I said. Bad analogy, but it kind of explains Kat. <b>In short:</b> Yes, all Keidran sub-species should be capable of interbreeding. <b>Second</b>, other than Kathrin and her aforementioned ancestry, we don’t know of many “very mixed” Keidran, but we know because of that and Sirus’ offer to Trace, that interbreeding occurs often when slaves are involved. Due to racial tensions (E.G. the Fox’s timidity, the Wolf’s ferocity, the Dog’s agressive free-spiritedness, etc.) free-Keidran are unlikely to have interracial intimacy, but occur on occasion (E.G. Clovis, Having a vixen as a mother and a wolf father. Another is Sythe and Flora, who had that arranged marriage that Flora forced to be cancelled). <b>In Short:</b> Keidran having interracial offspring is relatively common among slaves, it being a forced arrangement, and is relatively rare “in the wild”, through arranged marriages and the occasional “falling in love.” <b>Third</b>: Human/Keidran, let alone Human/Basitin, Basitin/Keidran, or “Dragon/Anything-Else”, Reproduction is extremely rare. The only canon examples of these would be Raine, as Mary Silverlocke and Euchre’s daughter, with her parents kind of cheating the system due to Euchre’s “Perfect Transformation” ability, Trace and Flora’s unborn baby, and Reni, who is, if I recall right, 1/16th Human. Daniels & Therie’s child and the two children above don’t count as canon because they are in Patreon images suggested by the fans rather than the comic. It is, however hinted by these images, that Ephemural opened up cross-breeding between Keidran and their longer-lived counterparts with the intent, as she stated when allowing Trace and Flora’s reproduction, “to preserve Keidran blood.” I hope this reply, which I might as well add to TwoKinds.wikia.com as an encyclopedia entry, was able to help answer your questions.

Unfortunately not canon. But we can hope that, if not the way they are now (which I see as the most likely plausibility), with Natani and Keith being Genderbent (Maletani and FemKeith) we can see a hybrid.

What “old canon”? Keidran technically still live to around 20. When Rose was nearly executed, Trace appeared to be about 10 or 12 years old, and was referred to as boy. Assuming Tom is using the medieval definition for marrying age, we can assume “Adulthood” is between 14 and 16 years old. When Tom wrote Trace’s Character Bio, which states an age of 24, (about a year ago in comic), coupled with the fact Euchre’s older than her, that means Rose is probably floating around 20 years old.

Also, I know of nothing that indicates that the children of such a union would have a life as short as the Keidran half. In theory, it would be at least midway (maybe 60 if your using today’s life expectancy, 30-35 tops if a medieval life expectancy).

Replying again since you replied as I was typing my last reply, the canon lifespan hasn’t changed at all given the information I have been able to gather. Keidran age more similarly to animals than humans. Shorter lifespans, faster maturity, and they often have behavioral and biological characteristics that make them seem more animalistic than Basitins. Even though Basitins have fur and animal like ears, that is nearly the only similarity to animals they share. They age like humans, but that isn't to say they are simply humans with fur. They have a natural resistance to poison, live by a warrior type mentality, and are biologically incapable of using magic. Or at least they should be. It messes with their heads in a way that leaves them pretty much witless after long term exposure. I hope this answer is sufficient.

2026-10-08 12:00 The only ones that won’t be allowed would be things that are presently or might be possible in the comic. Examples of children who can’t be sketched include any Human/Tiger hybrid (because Trace and Flora’s), Keith and Natani having a child (It can happen, but I didn’t say it will), Raine &amp; Sythe’s (or red’s), Maren &amp; Sythe (or red’s). Technically we don’t know for sure if Ephemural made it possible for all cross-species relations or not. As far as the context and info I have goes, Ephemural (Neutrality), being the “god/dess” over the Keidran, had selected Flora as the savior of the Keidran race, the one who would defeat Trace Legacy, who was the champion of the mask over the humans, Chaos. Knowing that chaos would continue to seek the keidran’s destruction, and since their bond was strong enough to defeat her, she allowed the pregnancy to occur, so that even if Trace relapsed, their child would survive, and, bearing Keidran blood, can allow the Keidran reborn even should the rest be destroyed. In my head-canon, yes, all Humans and Keidran, and hopefully Basitin and Keidran, can have children.
