If you type <a href="[url goes here]">text</a> It should link properly… unless the corporate bastards at Patreon decreased/removed urls from working in the comments. Using <img src="[url goes here]" /> should still work for images though.

That's what I did but it did not work. I try it again and it would initially hyperlink the word, but disappears. When I go back to edit mode, the HTML syntax also disappears. Haven't tried the latter method.
