Gonna headcanon this into a prequel to the snow leopard series. Because this girl and her shnep boyfriend are beautiful and perfect and right. So she stays there forever. When the rest of the excursion goes to leave, a kid from the village is like, "Please don't go, auntie!" And shnep boi is like, "Guess folk around here have gotten used to you being around. I understand you have to go, but I'll admit; when you're gone, this place is gonna feel... colder." And she leaves anyway. But later that evening, shnep boi is... chopping wood or some other shnep hunk bs... when a figure comes walking out of the sunset. So he looks up and goes, "Decided to stay, huh?" And adventure girl is like, "Didn't feel right to go. I guess the real adventure was right in front of me the whole time." And shnep boi wraps her in his big, hunky shnep arms and says, "welcome home." Then they FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- *Broadcast terminated*

It seems quite a few Basitins get exiled if they can start their own community somewhere else.

Yeah it does raise the question about how frequently basitins are exiled. Is there a massive underground railroad moving basitins or was a junta exiled en masse in the past that forged a new society up north. Maybe basitin society is like the 75th rangers where you are constantly tested to a standard and those who cant keep up are released :O. Who knows.

It could be an older trait, and fur thickness has some plasticity, you can see that in horses (say). But it makes me wonder how Southern Basitins look...

There can't be Southern Basitins because according to Tom's map, this world has no Southern continent. The Basitin isles proper are about as far as you can go.

How long do you think you can last before you need to put it back on?” The male explorer: “Phew!” (Thoughts) “I thought these people were prudish… at least, that’s what they told us about the Basitins before we left.” Brin: “You’re so fluffy I can’t resist” *proceeds to hug the Basitin* Basitin: *a sole drop of blood leaks from his nose as soon as she squeezes against him* I guess these Basitins have gone beyond Keith and all but forsaken their original traditions and values.

If you look at the map that tom drew showing rough species distributions, you'll notice that there's supposed to be "basitin exiles" up in the northern area. So honestly, yeah, these people probably have dropped several traditions. At least, depending on when they where exiled

I have a question. Are these basitins capable of maintaining better homeostasis then the ones on the island? There was a page where Keith was getting sick do to mild hypothermia, so I was wondering if the island basitins not only have the ears of rabbits but the shitty homeostasis as well.

legend has it, if you hug a northern basitin, especially the fluffier ones. You'll be engulfed by the floof that leads to a pocket dimension where you'll never be seen again.

Ah Yes! Forgot about those arctic rabbits. With normal rabbits, you dump a pail of cold water on them they will be dead within the next hour or so form hypothermia.

As long as you can keep your temperature stable and you have food you can survive damn near anywhere. I'd imagine theyre just basitins with long hair doing what basitins do. As a dude who had to go through cold water survival training in michigan I can tell you that being wet just fucking sucks the life right out of you if youre not covered up and insulated from the elements.
