Not necessarily. Red is a bigoted asshole who needs some major development before he is ready to date Raine. ZenxRaine is a cute ship, but also just as baseless as every other Raine ship.

Maybe, just maybe, Raine is the one that can show Red how to not be a bigoted asshole. People don't often change without a reason or external influence. Raine would be a great influence and someone that Red clearly respects and is making some changes for already.

THIS! It needs to happen! Even if it isn't Raine who is 'spreading' her condition like in the original sketch, we have Reni here, who said herself that she was still very inexperienced with her magic. A little 'accident' might occur ^^ AND the Legacy estate has an indoor beach, so why not an indoor waterfall as well? "The stage is set" *cue some sappy background music* (also, it might not be the worst experience for Red to see the world beyond his own muzzle XD )

I never really liked Red because, at first he wanted to straight up slaughter anything moving that was larger than a dog, smaller than a cow, and has fur, and almost did so to Raine after the shackle broke. <b>csstats</b> is also right about people changing. It often requires external influences, which is actually part of the reason why I became a correctional officer btw, to help people change for the better. If you look at Trace. He would likely have stayed on his path to hitlerhood if Ephemural hadn’t given him amnesia, and, unlike Ephemural’s intentions, he ended up turning a full 180°.

Heresy that a good number of them will become canon. Since we are here though, ive been on quite a few ships in my day, and this is not a good one. Its not zentani, but its a job on a garbage barge.

@Elvenhunter Wait... you mean that Red is NOT slowly going through characterisation as he both comes to grips with the situation of having to work with Keidran, and that fact that the girl he likes can turn into one? Honestly, I think Red losses out by being a bit character, the storyline does not focus on him much, so we don't find out much about him. Nor do we see how much he IS changing. Red would be a much more sympathetic character if we knew more of his backstory, while racism is something that many humans are taught, I think Red has deeper reasons for his hatred of Keidran, especially wolves. Not only did they attack the Taverndatter's Tavern, but I think they also attacked Red's village when he was young. I may be wrong though. But despite that, Red is not a bad person. A bit of a jerk and a muscle head, which mostly comes through because he speaks before he thinks, though he has hidden depths(his acting). But beneath that, he is motivated by protecting his friends. Jerk with a Heart of Gold, as the trope says. So, I agree with csstats, Raine will be a positive influence on Red, and he clearly cares for her, regardless of her family or how she looks.

Well, i wouldn't unship someone because they've had a rough start, it's obvious Red cares about Raine seeing as he really does try to be around her and understand her even when she's in a form he is known to be very biased against, in my opinion that may be stronger than Maren and Sythe who have just been chatting at each other. With that being said i don't actually think / hope Raine and Red get together. I'd much rather see them become bomb friends, this would also give a little diversity so it's not just a lot of couples, but also some people who are just cool friends.

@quite possibly a sombrero I get where you’re coming from, but it seems like in recent pages red is really trying to change his ways and views, if anyone can change him it’s Raine, though im still big on RaineXZen. But I’m perfectly fine with wherever Tom takes his comic, I’m not gonna get upset cause a ship never happened.

I dunno, guys. "He was a bigot until his love interest took the form of that which he hated" doesn't really strike me as a love story for the ages. Like maybe if you just love watching hateful jerks be dragged kicking and screaming into begrudgingly performing basic human decency, then immediately being rewarded with the love of a woman.

A re-post of a "story" I posted on the forums. It's near the end of an epic quest Red and Raine were on to find the magic McGuffin that would make them fully Human again. In their escape from where for the McGuffin was kept (because these kind of places always self-destruct after you remove the McGuffin), they end up falling into a river (bridge over gorge collapses during the destruction?) and are being swept away towards a waterfall. Red is able to grab something and keep himself from going over the edge, but Raine isn't. He has to make a choice; Hold onto the McGuffin and let Raine go over the edge. Let go of the McGuffin to save Raine and potentially lose their one chance at being Human again. Let go of what he's holding onto to grab Raine and they all go over the edge. He chooses to save Raine. They managed to climb down the waterfall to look for the McGuffin to see if it survived. Raine: Any luck? Red: No. I think it's gone for good. Raine: I'm sorry, Red. Red: It's not your fault, Raine. I'm the one who let go of it. Raine: Yeah, …you did. Red, you could have been fully Human again. Red: Yeah, but …well, I don't think I would have enjoyed being Human without you. Would've felt like a hollow victory. Raine: You gave up your humanity for me? Red: Yeah. We might have one or two more chances at becoming Human again, but we've only got one chance for each other. Raine: Oh, Red. {Insert image here (and possibly one final shot of the McGuffin safely hiding in a nearby bush).}

Even the worst of us can change and try to be better. Even if we can never go all the way to "good", to quote Agent Carolina from Red vs Blue,"Better might just be good enough". I hope for Red to change for the better. I see a lot of myself in him-his rashness, his stubbornness and his difficulty accepting that he is in the wrong...I'm trying to change, and I see his changes as similar. If there's one thing that I learned from the comic and from Red vs Blue, it's that even the biggest arse-holes and idiots can change and become better people, bit by bit.
