Yep… totally justifiable. This dog: Gets caught by a completely different human. Is befriended by a Fox who was also captured at age. Through complicated circumstances, they are freed. The Fox convinces this Dog to join him on a brief journey into Fox territory.

Continuing: Eventually, Bad Doggo discovers his recent inner awakening (see my comment above) has led him to develop a major case of strange feels for new Fox Boi Friend. Fox Boi introduces Badoggo to his fox girl friends. After much time and a lot of gentle, positive reinforcement, Badoggo and Fox-Boifriend form poly-power-pack with fox girls and make many pretty fox-dog pups who all consider themselves to have two dads.

Wow, while they're both horrible, horrible people, Doggo actually comes off a bit worse here. The Human, if he's being truthful about it just being business for him, might agree to sell back the Fox slaves to their tribe if offered a good price, Doggo is straight up racist though.
