Raine's mother, former Grand Templar, being cursed by Trace into wolf Keidran form during Trace's takeover. In Keidran form, Mary was unable to access her magic anymore without mana crystals, and was thus rendered powerless.

Maybe? Ferrous points out she *could* have a lamb even now! If there are non-anthropomorphic squirrels, hens, cats, ... For myself, I had to go all the way back to the original version of "Mary's lamb" to find something useful (first and last line).
