Oh, that's a pretty good point there - and if you only used three-phase or two-phase for everything, likely no need for a neutral wire so the big pad could be for earthing. :p And also as an electrician I don't know if it would be that terrifying, mostly you'd have to deal with a higher voltage since main voltage is more than single-phase voltage, but ultimately three-phase devices aren't otherwise more hazardous.

There is no such thing as two-phase. Every time I hear that, something just makes me want to throttle a kitten or something. Single-phase means you have a live wire with an offset. What you're referring to as two-phase has the second lead energized as an offset. The difference between the leads determines the offset, and the voltage. Case in point, I regularly have to test from hot to hot to determine voltage. with hot to ground to verify enough power on the main feeds. On a piddly 120 volt circuit, your hot lead (L1) is 120 volts and your other lead (can always be written as L2) is ground, same goes for the ground plug, hence why it's only 120 volts. On a typical A/C system, you have 120 volts on L1, 120 volts on L2. If reading line to line shows 0, someone got their wires wrong between the load (the A/C) and the distribution box. Thanks to what's called phase offset, you want to see either 208 volts or 240 volts between L1 and L2. I admire your bravery, but you do NOT want 3-phase power being readily available on consumer-grade electronics. One misstep and you're toast. Power just doesn't care. Besides, it's been established that the "middle toe" of the receptacle is a mana crystal feed. Magically powered devices are also grid-supplied.
