Should probably see about getting an ID for both forms. Suggested by SomeOtherTom!

The struggle of being a Half Keidran and Half Human in the Modern days.

Anonymous

Aww, lonely girls wine.. makes me want to give her a hug

Fennex

God I love this one. What an awesome sketch idea

ThingsAreMoving

She's buying lonely girls wine. I'd sell it to her just out of sheer pity.

Villes Vill

I'm sure the cops will make sure she has proper ID after they get a call or two about ID theft.

Ghostpony

Lol imagine the issues with finger prints

SomeOtherTom

Thanks for picking this one out to draw! It’s always cool to see a silly prompt brought to life like this. The emotions you’ve drawn them with are perfect. Love throwback to the last Squirrel Mart sketch with the chips too!

Ordithus

Adira has her doubts. Raine has a very adorable nervous expression! Those dates on her ID, hold up

Arukino

Keidrans can get plastered Basitins are the the unaffected

Roughlandin

Glad I remembered to ask Raine to grab me a bag in chat yesterday. Gotta love the magic taste of Any Flavor Chips! Now reformulated for more of that great Any Flavor taste with less off-putting mana aftertaste! :D

Roughlandin

...Maybe they count to 18 different in New Edinmire?

silver dragonia

i think a special ID should be allowed for those who can transform between human and keidran/basitin form so there wouldn't be this problem and i wonder what kind of flavoured chips she prefers i like either salty chips or sour cream and union or just BBG chips

ThirdKind

Raine, why box wine? You are better than that girl get a bottle.

silver dragonia

maybe the box of wine is cheaper and she doesn't have loads of money?

ThirdKind

She's actually from a rich influential family but has become estranged from her parents because of their cold nature and lives on her own money striving to make her own way in life.

AstroChaos

I'm honestly more concerned with the fact that she's buying it in bulk enough for 34 glasses then what it comes in.

yFamous

Boxed wine doesn't go bad as quick as bottled wine.

ijuinkun

For Keidran, at least, the age of majority is around twelve. Eighteen is the start of middle aged for a people who rarely live beyond thirty.

Thisguy

Here I’m thinking what the big deal is. She’s 18 in human years, so she’s legal. Then I remember that some countries have a higher legal drinking age for some reason. Guess the Twokinds modern world follows those countries rules.

Thisguy

Lol. Now I’ve actually properly read the comic. Thought it was something about ages. How a Keidran would be legal at 18 but a human wouldn’t in certain places. So of course I Cath myself out with my “US drinking age is weird rant” when in reality it was because of her shapechanging ability. Duh!

silver dragonia

alright fair point thirdkind though shouldn't they have left a fair bit of money for her to help her a little with the money sitation? but atleast she has some friends who could help her here and there with finance and maybe help her get a job so she can pay them back over time i'd be happy to lend her some money and if she buys me a drink or 2 or some snacks i'd consider it somewhat of a pay

Travis9x

I'm still confused though, because I thought Raine aged according to normal human standards, and that she was 18 according to main comic cannon? The birthdate on the ID appears to be year 974, but the years in (what I assume is) issued & expires, are only 982 - 986...which would imply that she's ~12??

Cliff Warden

If Euchre is anything to go by they age at the rate their current form would. Raine spent most of her childhood in human form, so she aged like a human.

DarthKeidran

STORY-COMMENT™ Adira (thinking): “You look suspiciously spry for your age… and not human…” Adira (aloud): “I’m sorry ma’am. I’m gonna need to confiscate this stolen or forged ID from you.” Raine: “Wait, wait! That is my ID. Look at the ‘Restrictions’ section on the back.” Adira: “Pfftt. Are ya telling me you can turn back and forth?” *Turns Card Around* Card: “Restrictions: Moped Motorcycle w/ Sidecar Human/Keidran Hybrid” Adira: “Honey, you look old enough you should already know Humans and Keidran can’t have a child together. I can’t sell you this unless you give me your real ID.” Raine: “That is my real ID though. My father is High Templar Euchre and my Mother, Mary Silverlocke was Grand Templar before being Succeeded by Trace Legacy.” Adira: “Right. I can believe this 'Raine' would be the daughter of Templar Silverlocke, but claiming Templar Euchre is a Keidran, don’t lie to me. I’m calling the Templar down here.” Raine: “Wait, Please!” *looks around almost panicked* Raine (Thoughts): “Wait, is that, Kat, from the book club?” (Aloud): “Kat! Kathrin! Please! Help me!” Kathrin: “Huh? What’s going on Raine?” Adira: “???” Raine: “You know how I’m sometimes a human, right?” Kathrin: “I mean, you always run to the restroom before it happens, so I’ve never seen you change, yeah I guess.” Raine: “Can you please help me convince…” CatKeidran!Nora: “Don’t bother, she isn’t human.” *walks away seductively with an evil smile on, knowing full-well that she is human, and having ascertained Raine as the one destroyed her while playing on RHGUY69’s profile as he was teaching her how to play.* CatKeidran!Nora (thoughts) “Revenge is a dish best served cold.” Raine: “You wouldn’t happen to be willing to ignore what she said, right?” Adira (into magic communication device, or whatever): “Hello, Templar, this is Adira at Squirrel Mart, I’ve got a girl here with a very well forged ID.” Raine: *Run Away!!! Run Away!!!* Kathrin (thoughts): “What just happened? This stuff’s OK. I guess I’ll buy it for her and, if that wasn’t really her, then I guess that’s more for me when Eric ignores me.” Some time later: Raine: “I mean, you’re one of the High Templar dad, can’t you do something to stop this from happening? That’s my fifth or sixth ID this month.” Euchre (over the KeiPhone, or whatever): “I’m sorry Raine, I’m in charge of the Division of Planning, not Mana-Vehicles. I’ve tried to get Sirus to make it so shapeshifters like us can get a photos of our other forms on our IDs, and he claims it’ll be too complicated to implement. Personally I think he’s doing it as some sort of cruel prank.” *the conversation continues* Meanwhile: CatKeidran!Nora: *still wearing a smirk, and purchasing alcohol powerful enough to knock out a dragon, gives Adira her ID, which clearly shows her dragon form, age, height, and mass* *alters Adria’s perception so she sees CatKeidran!Nora on the ID, as well as details that would match her size.* Adira (thoughts): “Why would a Keidran want to buy this stuff? Just a shot will leave a human hammered for days, and I can’t imagine the hangover if I tried it.” CatKeidran!Nora: *pays and walks away seductively, carrying the most powerful booze in all the land* 🎵“Everybody wants to be a cat…”🎶

CrimsonQuill086

Ah, Raine, I'm sure it'll be cleared up in legal! (Also...32 glasses of wine for one person? What could have happened for that much drink?)

DarthKeidran

She is the only one in Keidran form to have Paw-Pads on her fingers, perhaps her fingerprints and "fore-paw"-prints match.

Roughlandin

Adira: "...Meh. I don't get paid enough to care. I'm not even supposed to be running the register tonight. The cashier's just dealing with something else right now." Natani: "Who spills a bottle of infinite dish soap and leaves it without telling anybody? It's INFINITE! Grrr, this thing must have been going for hours. You'd think they could find a way to make it not be infinite IN the store! When I find whoever did this, I'm gonna-WAUGH!" *Slips and knocks over several more bottles.* Natani: "Aw... woof." Willow, whispering: "Should we tell him my body accidentally knocked over the bottle when it was in the other aisle?" Laura: "Shh! Just keep walking and don't make eye contact."

Roughlandin

C'mon Adira! Look at that face. She looks trustworthy to me! Great work as always, Tom! Cool to see all these little lore touches coming back like Any Flavor Chips and Laura shopping in the background. Also, I guess New Edinmire is officially Modern AU sketchverse canon now! Neat! Congrats, OtherTom!

DarthKeidran

The thing that's causing the confusion here is that, apparently, the years on Mekkan are twice as long as Earth years. So, with her age being between "8" and "12", "at this time", she would be between "16" and "24" on Earth. With that in mind, it would imply that a Keidran's natural lifespan is closer to 40 Earth Years, rather than around 20.

Ordithus

Don't you diss my box wine

Azhrei Vep

Maybe she just doesn't want to come back often? That's a good month's worth if she has a glass before bed each night.

Adamas

Most Keidran would be dead at 18

Markius Fox

@Travis9x The birthdate is 9 / 17 / 964, making her age when it was issued as 18, and when it expires as 22.

Ordithus

Well, now it is. All is well~

CrimsonQuill086

Good point! I have that sort of strategy myself...buy a bunch and take 'em over a long time (once a week, usually)...Then again, how'll she store them?

Gameboy78

I'm glad that this one got picked. It is nice to see Adira and Raine on one Sketch and the expression of Raine on the ID is also funny :D

Thisguy

Hence they would legally be allowed to buy alcohol at a younger age. And hence why a human kierdran hybrid/shapeshifter may have issues about which rule they fall under.

Thisguy

Meanwhile. Reni walks in in dragon form and is served without anyone checking her ID because everyone assumes a dragon is of age and who would impersonate a dragon?

Went Brown

Either transform or get an id that gives both pics. Adira is just doing her job.

Thisguy

Box, or Cask Wine. Australia’s gift to the world.

Thisguy

You can stack box wine. Also the boxes make a nice wall. And the bags can be inflated and tossed around. Or hung on trees to ward off birds.

MrWho

34 glasses? Ouch XD

silver dragonia

i'm sure both of us could have fun with her and the wine and everyone else and i'd be happy to bring my own brewed alcohol with my smoking pipe and special tabacoo to get high to share with those who would try to get a little high and i am sure you at very least want to try my home brewed alcohol thirdkind

Waterpicker

To be fair, even thou she's only 20 at her tonnage. A small drink wouldn't be that much of an issue. It would be if she got the dragon class drink.

Markvincible

Poor raine having to deal with the two forms

Zeigwolf

She needs a lenticular ID
