they're abit chewy with bread-ish slightly salty taste with a soft inside bread may i suggest eating it with a cold drink?

Yeah, not fried though, so somewhat the texture of a bagel's chewy/salty/savoryness. More of a sourdough sort of taste.

Pretzels became beer food once bartenders realized that a pretzel showered with salt makes people thirsty and thus buy more beer or spirits to wash it down.

You can also get them hard with large salt crystals making them very hard and salty. Of course, those may just be American style pretzels. Personally, I prefer the soft pretzels more than the hard ones.

if you softly tap on a breadloaf which has a hard exterior and on a donut which has a soft one the pretzel is somewhere in between as they're as i believe steam baked with some salt on the dough

There's an interesting difference between hard and soft pretzels. Hard pretzels are made by machine. Soft pretzels are made by hand.
