I wonder how much of Saria’s confusion is because of Rose being naked under that robe. Definitely a way to get Saria to stare into Rose’s eyes just a little too long.

This is probably an unpopular opinion here, but I honestly never really liked the rose/saria ship. It kinda paints saria as a bad wife schmoozing with her girlfriend behind her husband's back. It also adds another layer of tragedy to trace's backstory. So I'd prefer them to have a close platonic relationship.

She knew Rose before her relationship with Trace. And historically it wasn't uncommon for queer women to marry men for propriety's sake. My theory is that Saria finally gave in to Trace's advances so he could be a cover for her relationship with Rose. She just wasn't expecting to accidentally develop actual feelings for Trace, too. Which made things... complicated.

My headcanon's been that Saria had feelings for both Rose and Trace and was trying to slowly introduce Trace to the idea of polyamory before things went horribly wrong.

Yea the ship doesn't really bother me out side of the comic because the sketches are just for fun, in the comic it would just rub me the wrong way
