The Human Empire's relatively humble capitol city, suggested by Van Korben! It's huge castle sits atop one of the only large hills in an otherwise flat region of land surrounded by fields and forests. Farms and smaller outlying villages dot the landscape, extending for miles in all directions to provide food for the city center.

The city gets its name from the castle itself. There was originally another older Morlin castle which was completely destroyed during the first Keidran war. This castle was given the name in tribute, and is relatively new.

2026-10-07 15:00 What wonderful Deep lore we have been getting as of late, especially for humans. Hopefully we can get a name for this "Human Empire" soon,as well as a look at the royal family. As for the city itself,it seems small considering the supposed grandure of Human civilization...though considering its heavy fortification including the hill...perhaps it's more of military/political capital. Perhaps the Templars "insited" this be the new capital after the war...easier to protect than a larger city...and to control.

What mean "high" in tower name - the size or the fact that the high templars live there?

This will definitely be my background if you color it

The Sexy Beast

Released today so it wouldn't have been chosen to be colored. 😏

Wonder if the "hill" is natural or was made by slave labor? Lots of sites wound up with hills made by building on top of older ruins.

i wonder how big reni's bedroom is and i do hope we'll see how big her bedroom is along with what she has in her bedroom becouse i want to know what trickets she has and if is occasionally drinks in alcohol or if she's interrested in it at all

Heck, there's a deep trove of lore on the whole of Renis' draconic side of the royal family (and after seeing her younger self with a hydra Halloween costume, her room is probably nerd central? :) )

silver dragonia

maybe it is nerd cental and that may be why i would love to see her bedroom

Little of a, little of b probably. It's probably also the central control for any network function of the towers

Wales made a lot of fortifications by building artificial hills to build keeps on and digging moats around them when they were being invaded by what would become Britain (don't remember off the top of my head) considering it's in the middle of a plain the hill is probably artificial

One has to wonder, why is there only one large hill for miles around? Could it be something buried under the castle? Or perhaps ancient ruins of a previous civilization?

An interesting idea. The capitol city is just a small town. No walls, no imposing monuments, no offices full of squabbling bureaucrats. I imagine it is a primo tourist trap though.

Look up the "tells" of the Middle East. Like Tel Aviv. They are indeed the remains of centuries of building and rebuilding on the same spot. Places strategically and economically vital to to the region. Morlin's position is a classic "high ground" advantage. They can watch the countryside for miles. More with magic. A place that has to be taken to allow movement within the country.

Ancient Britons used to move earth until they were massive hills that could overlook an entire area. None quite as big as this one (that I recall), but if practically cave-men could do it, I imagine with the help of magic or dragons an earthwork like this could be erected rather swiftly.

All city’s look small if you are far enough from them

Good to know where Reni's bedroom is. :/
