Here is a VERY weird thought... What if there WERE actually dinosaurs that resembled dragons that had evolved "wings" as a temperature regulation system? Enough surface area to act as either heat rejection in hot weather, or heat gain in cold weather? Fossils of such creatures would explain the midevil fascination with dragons...

Cliff Warden

Historic European dragons were symbolic amalgamations of everything perceived as dangerous or predatory to humans different regions had different parts in different places and fossils may have helped the process, but in general European dragons were symbols of tyrannic rule.

Sons of Lorgar

Or sand splashed from a careless runner 😖

Silent Thunder

There are actually theories that there were some that did that (take a look at the “sails” of the the Spinosaurus and Diametrodon, for example, and iirc I read somewhere the more well-known Stegadon may’ve had membranes around its spinal plates for heat regulation as well), so it’s not so far-fetched some species might’ve had collapsible membranes for thermoregulation, though they certainly couldn’tve flown with them

Get Welsh Rat and Rusty Mudstix to help - but don’t let Sophie or Karma find out!

oh no - sunburnt wings ....

Very gorgeous dragon woman laying on the beach. What did we do to deserve this treasure, and how do we do it again

Many versions/depictions of dragons have the forelegs as the wings, much like bats. In that style, pterosaurs are basically dragons...giant flying reptiles. On a side-note, it's also very interesting to me that every major civilization in history has some form of dragon-esque mythology/lore...even civilizations that never encountered one another prior to developing that dragon lore. This fact lends credence to the idea that there may have actually been some kind of dragon-like animal with varieties in all major parts of the world, that went extinct prior to modern history (possibly due to human hunting).

This would include Quetzlequatle, ancient Mesoamerican serpent god.

silver dragonia

she derserves headpats doesn't she? while nora deserves headbaps

ijuinkun

Her Anthro form has more boob than her humanoid form.

ShadowedHand

Did anyone else notice SpongeBob and Patrick on the left?

Adamas

How big you thinking she is Eddi?! Here, I have a spare fine point paintbrush, we'll do it together.
