I disagree I am loving the uniform design even more now... wut? I'm a healthy tod

Spillthefire6

Those uniforms were requested and approved by the captain himself...also drinking liquids like coffee in zero-g must feel pretty nice.

VGR

This is absurd. Everyone knows female Starfleet personnel didn’t wear underwear. Kirk’s orders.

Calvin-Skye

Please please please let this one be coloured!

Broaster07

I was a seventies kid, so I remember TAS alongside of Scooby-Doo. Unfortunately it was stored into memory bank alpha and not accessed until recently. Those female star fleet uniforms were an adolescent's dream

Broaster07

Ladies first up the Jeffrey's tubes

Phiraday

hehe. imagine how the guys would feel if they had to wear kilts. x3

Tuna

Been requesting a Tomified M'Ress for a while - well worth the wait X3

Phiraday

x3 could you imagine if Keith was in that kinda predicament?

James Vineyard

Breezy, and heavy material, but kilts ok. But for the trek universe, they had skants.

AstroChaos

*blinks* Now THAT was a reference I never expected!

AstroChaos

I was a wee lad myself watching TAS (though on reruns in the 80's) and all I can remember is something to do with a giant Spock... and thinking that all the girls were "cute" or whatever, and being confused by why, when I wouldn't have said the same about the same girls in TOS, which I was also watching at the time. You may have put your finger on at least part of the reason why...

Broaster07

Scotty's dress uniform included a kilt. Goes back to the Scottish regiments up to the second world war. The Black Watch regiment was referred to as the ladies from hell

Broaster07

I attribute it to the Jessica rabbit defense, M,'Ress was drawn that way in the animation. The women crewmembers of the OS Enterprise were powerful and way more mature.

Oh my, one of the triggers that turned us older folks into furries 😅

Glenn Sellers

Well, the animated series was a Saturday morning cartoon as opposed to a prime time cartoon. The animators had to make sure the girls were at least partially appealing to boys and men.

Glenn Sellers

Ah. Lt. M'Ress. One of the first anthros to catch my eye and keep it. I would have gladly served under her without complaint number one.

Broaster07

Indeed like the Jump seties in Japan keyed towards tweens and teens

ThirdKind

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go when no man has gone before.... and and to find hot catgirls and furry chicks.

ThirdKind

Love it! Thanks for this Tom. Smiled the whole time you drew it❤️

coredumperror

Wow, wasn't expecting a M'Ress from you, but it's a very pleasant surprise!

Markius Fox

Male Lieutenant who is wearing the same uniform (it's a thing Gene Roddenberry liked apparently): *covering things* "I am inclined to agree, Lieutenant!"

Markius Fox

Funny enough, Gene pushed from time to time for male actors to wear the dresses. They're seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture and at least one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Jacobus Peterson

That lady of communications bit was a joint effort 😼

Jacobus Peterson

I wonder what the fair Lt. And Gary Sevens familiar might have had to say to one another😼

horoisawolf

Uniforms are meant to represent rank. providing modesty is just a secondary function. (and at least it does not hamper her movement in zero g)

Jacobus Peterson

Always a pleasure to encounter a fellow Filker.

Muddypaws

I see Britain I see France.., I see M’Ress’s …, ahhh you know the rest.

eddi_TBH

Tail? 😚🎶🎶🎶

feralcat52

Proposed new rule: All Star Trek-type shows must have at least one anthro-cat character. All in favor say "Aye".

Adamas

I mean both the Federation and the Empire have them, they're even related to each other like the Vulcans and the Romulans.

Adamas

Wasn't that guy in the Skant the one who ended up playing Daniels? Or do they just look similar?

Mark Temple

fun bit.. we see female crewmembers in TOS wearing pants in some of the hallway shots, so the skirts were apparently optional in setting. (and i could see Caitians like M'ress going for the skirts to be more comfortable, given the tail)

Mark Temple

hmm.. "space voyage AU" poking fun at trek and any other scifi tom feels like.

Mark Temple

at least morale is high in the other half of the crew despite the lack of gravity..

KaiserDunk

The "Star Trek Online" game has caitians as a possible Federation species for your character.

Sons of Lorgar

I think they would have opted for longer, wrap around skirts though, where the inner wrap goes under the tail and the outer wrap goes over it.

ijuinkun

Can't be--the guy who played Daniels (the crewman from the future in Enterprise) would have been a teenager when TNG was filming.

Michael Paquette

Not just Trek Online but the whole franchise recognizes 'Caitians'. 'Lower Decks' has one as regular character and even the TOS movies have had them in the background of scenes.

Feo

Can we please have M'Ress as Desktop Background. There are to less good wallpapers in this world x.x

feralcat52

Thanks for the input. That said, let me rephrase my original comment. What I was trying to say was that all futuristic outer space type shows need an anthro-cat or two.

Kinipshun

I really wish we had more anthros in Star Trek

Vicroc4

It's just too bad that the Kzinti were already copyrighted by Niven (who wrote the episode of TAS that they appeared in). Hence why they never appeared again in screen canon. STO at least reworked them into the Ferasans, and gave them a similar relationship to the Caitians as the Vulcans have to the Romulans.

feralcat52

I didn't see the episode, but I have read several sci-fi stories featuring the Kzinti. Interesting race. Other feline races in sci-fi literature would be the Hrrubans from the Doona series by Anne McCaffrey, and the lesser-known Ksixis of The Ksixi Chronicles by D. G. Grimma.
