"Hi, I'm Laura, your Time-Life operator...." "One, ringy-dingy. Two ringy-dingy.... Hello, is this the party I'm speaking to?"

Laura is the only fox girl who can crack the enigma code to save thousands of lives in front of Europe.

The reason we have phones that connect automatically is because of a dentist the was losing customers to a rival company because their wife worked at the local switch bord and would contact both numbers to her husband’s phone

I guess after the milkshake incident things didn't work out at the diner.

Did you ever see that documentary about the "Hello girls"? During World War One, hundreds of female switchboard operators went to France to operate trench telephone exchanges less than a mile of the front lines. At a time when having to wait a few minutes could cost lives (think gas attacks), these women could put through calls in a matter of seconds. They ultimately spent decades fighting for their Veteran status.

Looks more like 30s Laura since the job was practically dead by the 1940s. Love the history art as always Tom.💖

Now I'm curious. Do we have evidence of this?

Major Matt Mason

"We don't care. We don't have to. We're the phone company." Good times, good times."

Back in the day operators, what Laura is in this picture, had to manually switch wires to connect people on phone calls. The phone number and advancing computer technology eliminated the job. Fun fact they used to be all men until complaints about rude comments made them switch fully to women

Thanks, now I know everything about this picture
